Then potentially another run in Q1 of 2020 to frontload that and give a buffer for stuff like specialist games.

Harvey Mantaco posted:Would a release like this include death guard stuff or it's that too much it's own thing? Death Guard and Thousand Sons already have had, on paper, the things the new Chapters or the chaos Marines in Faith and Fury got - their own codexes got a separate set of relics, warlord traits, psychic discipline and stratagems. It's just that while Chapter Legions got those in addition to all the other poo poo in their 2.0 codex, and regular Chaos gets those in addition to their own bonuses and an extensive codex (even though they apparently can't pick and choose a legion trait), that's all non codex chapters, 1K Sons and Death Guard get, in addition to not getting most of the codex. I don't know how you'd fix it though without just killing everything that distinguishes them from their "parent" army. A new psychic discipline for Thousand Sons would be nice though, since being the only army with access to three used to be their thing. Now the Imperial Fists have as many psychic powers as the supposedly most powerful psykers in the galaxy. It's kind of a moot point for 1K sons since GW has built them around being a soup army but Death Guard are meant to be the core of the force. Honestly from what they teased of the boxed kits coming up I'm more hyped about those sculpts than in this box. I'm a little surprised they didn't just do a print on demand preorder for it.

LibCrusher posted:Are financial quarters different in Britain? Here in freedomville it’s been 2020 for a month, as far as businesses and balance sheets are concerned In the UK you can have whatever financial year you want. A lot of companies have a financial year from April - March because that's the tax year and it makes things simple. However plenty of other companies run January to December. The only time you expect to see a significant deviation is basically if there's some sort of big event that your finances are organised around. Like if membership renewals for a membership organisation are in June, their financial year is probably June to May. Why GW does this I have no loving clue. It makes things pretty complex for them because HMRC won't give a gently caress what their reporting year is and will calculate tax based on April to March, so they need a team also calculating that, and their biggest sales period is mid way through their financial year, which means if you're short of targets everyone will panic, and if you're above target everyone will relax.

Still gave us a 10% discount too off GW RRP. There's a good reason I keep going back there. (That and good old nepotism becuase the owner went to the same Uni as me)

Preface: I don't play 40k as of yet but my friend and I have been collecting way too much in an attempt to get into kill team. We already have a huge mechanicum, tyranid, ork, and death guard collection, I've got some Thousand Sons Fractal Blades, as well as pretty much all the models from Necromunda (still haven't played that either!) and a few other things. But right now I'd like to make some sexy Iron Warriors and I think I have my first simple kit bash down:
I'm not sure what to do for backpacks or other bits to hang off them though and would love recommendations. Any mechanicum pieces I should throw in the mix? Eventually I would like to play a real 40k game with them, so I picked up Feirros and have a Praevian on the way so I can also use the mechanicus units I already have as well to fill out the army. I guess I should have thought of this before, but can I use a Praevian as intended in 8th edition?

Where do the Word Bearers stand as a subfaction here in the leadup to PA 2? Either within CSM/Chaos, or in the game overall? Are they terrible, do they have good points?

This way you can avoid both the "ice skating on rubble" look of unmodified ones that some people do or the bumble-marine, difficult to attach flying stands. My squads are only primed but I can take a photo if you (or anyone else) is interested.

Okay, Inceptor story time. When building the squad, I wanted to a) not use any of the flying stands and b) modify their weapons loadout as I don't like the akimbo pistol look. I like the style of 30k breacher squads and the Ultramarine Invictarus Suzerain models, with the pistols incorporated into their shields, so I sought out some 3d printed bits that would work. The shields come from Popgoesthemonkey on Shapeways. I will be adding a chapter icon or the Fast Attack cross to the shields after painting. Note that the group has two Dark Imperium models and three from the MPP kit. I did want to have some motion to the squad but avoid the full "ice-skating" look. Here is the group (nevermind that the guy on the left is primed differently): The three models shown below are from the multipart kit. The left and right models' legs are unmodified, while the center model has undergone the operation on the model's right leg. If you've seen the multipart kit finished according to the instructions, this is the model in full "bumble-mode" with both legs splayed very far forward. If you were to try and attach this model straight to the base, both guns would point towards the ground, and it looks terrible - I played around with this and decided not to build a rubble pile for him to be crashing into, choosing instead to modify one of the legs. I think this pose successfully implies the model is in the process of taking off and scooting backwards while firing forwards. These two are the sergeant (left) and one of the squadmates (right) from Dark Imperium. Their legs have not been modified. Bonus content! Here is my primed and washed smash captain conversion, using the second DI squadmate model as a base. The thunder hammer is once again from Popgoesthemonkey, while the shield is from another Shapeways seller, martilloycola. The two bits of bling on his belt come from the IF Primaris upgrade sprue, and the winged skull is from the Assault Marine box. I kinda wanted to go with a full back banner for this guy, but that would have been just a little too over the top for me. Of note, this model has had his left leg reposed. Here are close-ups showing how I made the two cuts needed to free the leg: If you use good quality snips you can rotate the leg against the pelvis and end up with a pretty tight seam on both sides after the shift, dressing it up with minimal greenstuff; I chose to obscure the front of the join with the aforementioned bling and just kinda ignore the back one as it sits underneath the leg, invisible from above on the tabletop. For some alternative posing ideas using the DI models, I'd refer you to SRM. Legendary Ptarmigan fucked around with this message at 19:57 on Nov 16, 2019 |

Tired of looking at all the awesome new sisters models? Why not take a break and look at some old crappy ones! I completed my self imposed challenge to paint every one I had before the new sisters release date. This is an army that has technically been in progress for over a decade (not really though, I just bought a bunch and picked up spare ebay lots for a few years while playing WHFB and didn't start seriously painting anything until about a couple years ago) Now I can, instead of making progress on the other army starters collecting dust under my desk, begin painting a second copy of the exact same army in 2 weeks, but at least I can do it guilt free and with a sense of completion. (embiggen) Approx 3,000 pts if configured as shown

Booyah- posted:I'm actually thinking bone armor with red robes maybe? These are the six named Orders, but any combination of black, red, white/bone, grey/silver, or even gold will not look out of place. If you use the transfers, GW seems to be placing them on the corners of robes on the studio models. There's a couple that would look fine over red and you could just adopt the symbol for your "successor order," or just call them a local variant color scheme:
