It's gonna be like buzz aldrin was actually the first one on the moon but he defected to the soviet union and the CIA covered it up because he uncovered the secret moon paedophile conspiracy that's why he died.

I don't think electoralism is going to get us anywhere near to socialism but I'm very excited by the learning experience the last two years have become for politically suppressed peoples across the anglosphere

turnabouts fair play so I'm remembering someone posted a torygraph piece yesterday about the green pledge, the headline was an outright lie and here are two simple pieces for refutation

labour confirms actual manifesto policy remains unchanged wrt motions
contains original GMB and Labour GND motions, completely in line with revised manifesto

Actual manifesto change; "set out pathway, make overwhelming progress" becomes "set out pathway, make substantial progress", as per misleading but not fabricated article with outright lie as headline

They're loving *horrified* by the free broadband offer because they don't want to work for the government or, even worse, Openreach.

However the "massive outage" to Sky Broadband yesterday only affected a handful of exchanges. It's the kind of outage that happens all the time but only got noticed because a) it was just after the Labour announcement and b) one of the exchanges affected is where a lot of media people live so they all started screaming about it. As far as i can tell this Vrigin outage is even smaller.

Also a hearty lol at people screaming on Twitter about how they were losing thousands of pounds by being offline - if that's the case maybe pay more than 20 quid a month for something that's actually suited to mission-critical applications, eh?

I've seen at least one person who's a connection to a connection on FB going absolutely batshit about the fact that EVERYONE IN THE INDUSTRY WILL LOSE THEIR JOBS as if they wouldn't be re-hired by the governmental agencies (or indeed, transition from one to the other without any need to actually change jobs) - or for that matter, as if they wouldn't actually find themselves relatively better paid and less overworked as a result.

I realise we're going to have to go through a few electoral cycles before it just becomes unworkable but digging up 7 year old tweets, while their contents are awful, being used to wreck people is really getting ridiculous. Asking for apologies for the language and attitudes shown is fine but it really should not be taken as a damning indictment unless they are stupid enough or still so awful to not apologise convincingly.

It's hilarious because - from what little we've been able to tell from the announcements so far, and obviously this could change massively once the detailed proposal is out - they're likely only to be offering a barebones service and allow ISPs to continue to offer a higher-tier service, exactly how they do with Openreach-provided fibre. If anything this is likely to be good for the industry because the real money and toys are in things like edge networks and CDNs, and companies are going to be throwing money around to try and differentiate themselves on stuff like that.
