it's a bummer but you really can't blame the guy for not wanting to work a full week in his seventies. I hope we still get Papi weeks every so often.

That's BS, the real reason is he's holding out for a raise after he saw what SAS got. Papi is the face of ESPN, he should be the highest paid.

osu/psu was a huge ratings hit.

AA posted:

The game was watched by roughly 8.064 million viewers and drew a 6.3 rating overall, the second-best number overall for the 2019 season so far. To put that in perspective, the SEC showdown between No. 1 Alabama and No. 2 LSU on CBS, which was the highest-rated game of the year (and highest-rated since 2011) averaged a 9.7 rating. Notre Dame-Georgia back in September garnered a 5.4 rating. Meanwhile, the previous weekend’s highest-rated game was Georgia vs. Auburn on CBS, which drew a 4.0 rating.

To also put in perspective against previous games in the Big Noon timeslot, last week’s Michigan-Michigan State rivalry game drew a 2.5 rating while October 26’s Ohio State-Wisconsin showdown garnered a 4.5 rating.

Meanwhile, the biggest game in Montana college football all year was a no-show on any streaming service last weekend. From what it sounds like, people have been pretty happy with the show overall. Friend of mine says they stay more game focused than going into all the side stories and feel-good shmaltz narrated by Tom Rinaldi so I'd bet it's a bit of a breath of fresh air compared to gameday.

I'm sure it also didn't hurt that Fox had the only notable game of the week and one of their analysts is the former OSU coach. I'd imagine this week's show ought to do great numbers too.

Dude showed up to a Trail Blazers event in the off-season that combined his three loves: bicycles, basketball, and the Grateful Dead. That was pre-season, so surely he’s flying out the gate this year.

Cat-Griz watch parties can be fine! The one in Portland typically rents out a big barcade or bowling alley or some such, and it’s typically packed, so there’s plenty of opportunity to find equally ignorant/disinterested folks!

I watched ESPN gameday every Saturday in autumn almost without exception for the past 15 years until about week 2 of this season when I realized that an hour long pregame show was all I needed. It didn't hurt that OSU has been on Fox for close to half their games this season.
