so it’s technically the fault of the French

this is an excellent response in that it's both entirely pertinent (past associations wtf) and reminds everyone that the current labour leadership is basically the only group in politics at the time who made the right call there

also it's got to be enormously cathartic for mcdonnell lol

as an American watching UK politics is crazy because the line between “people speaking clearly and making their points and being respectful” and “psychotic ham-faced lunatics who lust for the blood of immigrants” is extremely naked and stark and easily discernible to the naked eye and I wonder... is this how y’all view the US? with one set of politicians clearly making sense and sounding reasonable and the other half behaving like some cartoonish caricature of evil?

I mean, kinda? The Republicans are actively pushing against any efforts to combat climate change, are the embodiment of embittered old person FYGM and massive hypocrites to boot. What possible redeeming feature do they have?

I'm not saying the democrats are great, but.

I'm not saying the democrats are great, but.

The FYGM and hypocrisy applies to virtually all the Democratic leadership and top members as well, though? And as for climate change, you've got guys like Manchin who get kickbacks donations from big coal, etc. to be disingenuous shits on that as well, so really, they're not as different as an initial glance would make it appear.

When you look at the raw data for polling they're actually pretty close and then the companies apply insane weighting to it to get what they publish. Also the polling companies are being investigated for links to hedge funds

ehhh the weighing stuff is usually at least moderately sound - push polling is usually something to do with the questions &c, not the weights. probably they are underestimating younger people's willingness to vote, but not by enough that it'd be a big thing

absurdly, it seems as though running a pathological turboposh liar on a transparent lie is actually going to get the tories over the line on this one. completely ridiculous; all labour sympathisers are going to have to whip their friends to the polling stations, because this election really is socialism or barbarism

And then after that in the Euro elections the pollsters overestimated Labour's vote share, putting them in second place instead of third, so who knows this time. With all the tactical voting and FPTP nonsense, Labour and Tories bleeding votes to the Brexit Party and the Lib Dems, it's going to be really hard to predict.
