That most certainly won’t happen. History won’t record a drat thing about Melania because she only resurfaces every 6 months to do something mildly humorous, and the only reason we know about it is this thread loves making GBS threads on her.

Which in fairness is perfectly fine. She deserves it just for the fact that she chose cyber-bullying as the thing she wanted to stand against. Also for the actually bad stuff like kids in cages and being a racist birther. But history wise she is one of the least consequential First Ladies in recent memory.

Feral hogs attacked and killed a woman outside a southeast Texas home where she worked as a caretaker, according to authorities

Christine Rollins, 59, cared for an elderly couple at their home in the small town of Anahuac.

"Unbelievably tragic. This is a very rare incident, just what little research we have found less than six of these have been reported in the nation," Chambers County Sheriff Brian Hawthorne said.

Hawthorne said Monday the 84-year-old woman she cared for was waiting for Rollins to arrive on Sunday. The woman went outside and found the woman in the front yard between her car and the front door.

Hawthorne said Rollins had a severe head wound and several other injuries consistent with an animal bite. The coroner in neighboring Jefferson County ruled Monday that she bled to death after an attack by feral hogs. Texas’ KATU2 reported that the medical examiner said the cause of death was “exsanguination due to feral hog assault."

Anahuac is just over 40 miles east of Houston.

They're not just for other people. Part of writing is wrestling with myself and what I believe. I'm in the process of redefining my identity after something you might call an epiphany, or maybe just a moment of realization after a very long process. A lot of this writing is for myself, but a lot of writing has a performative part to it as I respond better while under pressure. At the same time I'm increasingly embracing something that you could call radical authenticity and that means taking the filters off. I suppose some people could do it all at once, but for me it's something of a process. And as I have few people to model my behavior on and no mentor, it's going to be a stumbling, fumbling process.

You assume that I'm writing solely for the benefit of others and that I'm going to change the world with my words and I'll be forever immortalized or something. I don't believe that for a second. It's in large part for myself as I try and establish a new identity.

quote:

While I get where you're coming from, monetizing this is probably the surest way to end my enjoyment of it. I do have a patreon for beer money, but part of being a writer is having the urge to write. It's the not writing part that sucks. It's not about self-gratification, though there can be an aspect of relief afterwards. Normally I'm nervous about sharing personal stuff though as my work is intensely personal. It's more about redefining who I am while also under pressure from others. I'm grappling with some pretty intense, varied and largely esoteric subject matter while I do quiet online activism.

quote:

At least start a blog or something even if just for posterity because this is some "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy"-level poo poo. :stare:

I mean, you're not wrong, but you're coming at it from the wrong direction. I'm not becoming pathological. I'm chasing radical honesty and radical authenticity and that's going to be disturbing and awkward for a lot of people, including myself. These aren't screeds that I figure are going to change the world. They're outputs from dozens, even hundreds of hours of intense reading and thought while I attempt to reduce complex subjects to something understandable by regular people, because your average person doesn't have dozens or hundreds of hours to think about stuff. So when you draw comparisons to MLK and Ghandi, then to webcam models and then an axe murder, I get that I'm coming off as wild and strange and that you're having a hard time grappling with what I'm doing.

Consider the subject matter though. Magical thinking is a different mode of thinking from what rational people experience. I can't just list off bullet points and suddenly you'll understand magical thinking. I have to relate it in terms of story for you to grasp it at all in terms of magical thinking that you understand, but most people understand. Literally Star Wars and Mario Brothers, not because they're the best versions of magical thinking, because you don't take them seriously. But because they're well understood. We do engage in modes of thinking that doesn't make sense in a rational way. The leap that I'm trying to get people to spin into is imagine if someone actually believed they were a Jedi or a princess saving plumber and based their entire lives around it and thought in different ways from you or me. Where what you would think of as scientific rationality has to be explained through the lens of being a Jedi. And what I'm asking you to do is to hot swap, or substitute that kind of thinking, very briefly, for the magical thinking of Christianity, or at least the evangelical version of it. It's a hard ask, but I can't ask you to do it in any other way that would be meaningful to understanding.

People who believe in a certain kind of magical thinking are absolutely no poo poo primed to do violence, especially if they believe that Trump is some sort of literal chosen one in the Davidic sense. Drop spiritual warfare on top of that, which makes a person literally think that they are soldiers of God in a war against Satan, which puts them into permanent combat mode if they can't shake it off. Now this combat is normally internal and while scary as poo poo, no one dies. But Rick Perry is calling for violence with the chosen one narrative and you will see right wing evangelical terrorist attacks spike dramatically if that narrative is adopted. Being the chosen one in the biblical sense has very, VERY specific meanings.

These are extremely complex and deeply held beliefs that are being communicated by elites on a fascist, authoritarian radicalizing propaganda platform. So yeah, I feel compelled to talk about it even though most of you will straight up not get it. Your minds aren't primed for the modes of thinking. We're aware that there are racist dogwhistles. They exist. They communicate information in ways that most people don't hear, but people who are primed for it do. This is a violence dogwhistle and if you understand their modes of thinking, you will see for what it is. As preparation for violence.

All of what I'm talking about seems insane. That's because it is. I'm trying to explain the insanity of these people because I lived in an extremely benign part of that culture for a year and a half and it was still terrifying at times. We call them death cultists for a laugh, but we don't take that seriously. Their modes of thinking are literally alien and insane to us and most of us can't properly identify when they're prepping for violence because they're so loving bizarre.
