I am incredibly stupid

they've finally got round to briefly discussing it 45 minutes into PM, although they made sure to lead in with antisemitism and are leaning on "well nobody actually said they would sell the NHS they're just negotiating on it"

they've found time for two 10 minute sections on Clive James dying, a man who apparently had terminal leukaemia for 10 years

Wtf are these numbers? +34 from what? It's not the seats Con had at close of parliament. 54 majority with 352 seats? 352 seats gets a 32 majority ordinarily.

Kinda think this is total garbarge

Hi thanks for remembering!
The thing is I have to manually remove some and manually change some.
Some local members do not want any emails from the local branch, others want a different email address used for local stuff but not change their email address on the main LP database.

Because Organize (LP system) really doesn't do well with branches ('local' in that system means 'clp') and because there seem to be quite a few people who never receive emails sent out on the organize system and it's very difficult to check why, I use an email address of my own aliased to the local party as most of the officers do.

I do need to move to Organize at some point, but it's not something I have the energy for now. I think I would be extremely nervous of using a system I wasn't doing myself at this stage. I turn off all phones and tv and do it late evening when I'm sure mother won't randomly appear on my doorstep when I'm doing it to try to eliminate disturbance and the first thing I do is put my own email address in the 'to' box and send to my mobile to see what it looks like on there before doing the bcc.
Ouch, not in a format you can feed into a script filter before sending? Sounds rough.

And don't even get me started on the Black, Latino and Muslim migrants, Tories the lot of them, the things they get up to in their homelands.

La-Li-Lu-Le-Lo

I know there's a lot of focus on the polls due to not much else new happening, but it's getting a wee silly. What we do know is that more people registered to vote in the last week than ever before. There's been multiple stories and reports, both first and second hand, of lifelong Tories not voting for Johnson. I know there's been a big push for the anti-semitism story the last couple of days, but beyond the media huffing each others farts about it it's not really a talking point beyond press conferences and interviews - it seems more of an issue for the right that Corbyn will tax rich people rather than any claims of anti-semitism.

Just over 2 weeks to go, we're going to smash it. In the meantime, have a night off, do some non-pol stuff, have a bath.

figures to keep in mind for the 12th:
con: 13,636,684 total voters
lab: 12,877,918 total voters

turnout: 68.8%
# of total voters: 46.8m

Electoral Commission 2017:

quote:

Across the UK, an estimated 1.3 million electors (2.7% of the electorate) were added to the electoral register during the weeks leading up to the election.

Across Great Britain, an estimated 2.4 million applications to register were received in the weeks leading up to the election. More than a third (36.9%) of these were recorded as duplicates and an estimated 226,565 individuals applied to register after the registration deadline.

Returning Officers reported that approximately 10,500 individuals tried to vote on election day despite not being registered. This data is inconsistently reported and we did not receive a complete data return from all constituencies.
for comparison across the last 7 weeks of '19, '17, and '15 we have voter registrations amounting to:
2015: 2,962,446
2017: 3,268,288
2019: 4,466,970

if the % of new regs via the electoral commission (1.3/2.4 = 54.19%) is the same are the same we're looking at 2.4m new voters

postal ballots accounted for 18% of all votes, 2.4% of the postal ballots were rejected
