i think it's pretty messed up when people making jokes about x minority being the best one. the trans comment from tman is just another flavor of the black woman magic thing and its reactionary and bad even if you're ironically parodying the racist liberals that came up with it. imo anyway

Lindelof obviously changed HJ from the comic while trying to keep a lot of the elements, which is fine, it's a comic book. Lindelof showing how individual insurrectionism will get co-opted and neutralized along with the throughline between the Klan, Nazis, American police, the CIA and the Halls of power is an incredibly accurate and well done metaphor for actual American history. Lindelof acknowledges the autobiographical account of HJ is inaccurate in the show through the in-universe HJ tv show. Leslie's take is contrived because he was talking mad poo poo and had his mind made up before the first ep was even out.
