Refused to even let us buy a jerry can and a few litres so we could drive a few kms to somewhere that was open. Had to call JAF and pay like 15,000 yen for 8L. I'd rather light my car on fire than buy fuel from an Eneos again. Welp, that's my "officious dickhead Japanese person" story, thanks for reading. The exterior and interior on that MR2 look great. The corrosion and dust in the engine bay, however has me worried. Are you planning on replacing any of the hoses, belts, etc. in it? It seems like just about anything plastic or rubber will need to be replaced.

That engine bay will clean up nicely, most of the rubber/plastic stuff in the engine bay is pretty hard wearing. I can't even see the usual PCV valve leak. Those factory X-braces can be had for cheap in better condition. Also they've done the right thing in replacing the gigantic rear end standard steering wheel with a nardi, funny I wonder if they were running a boost controller on it as they've left a bit of velcro on top of the wheel. Not a massive deal as the ecu will cut fuel well before dangerous levels, even then it wouldn't be that great as the standard SMIC heatsoaks very quickly above standard boost levels. Also if you pull the bit of plastic going along the bottom of the door shut you can sort of peek into that area. A problem with these cars was there was a bit of foam placed in this recess and if water reaches that area the damp foam causes it to rot from the inside. This is more likely to happen on T-Bar models, but I've seen it happen with tintops also. It does definitely look like a higher mileage car than the op said it was, with the wear on the interior and the amount of dirt that has built up but honestly nothing massively terrible. Doing the timing belt would be worth it if you have no record of it being done recently, but it's a ballache to do without a proper lift.

If it is anything like our 88 Soarer then my guess is, because it's Shaken sticker is a couple years old now, that it's been sitting. That explains the debris in the engine bay, plus the general dirt and aluminum corrosion. The hood is full of vents after all. I'm also guessing the tires are old as the battery was (is?) dead. The belts are probably original to the car as to the mileage. I have no reason to doubt the mileage it shows as it's cleared the auction houses for the verified. It is always possible that it snuck through but they will mark mileage unverified before verified if they have any doubts.

The seat and steering wheel looks a little worn, but I forget if those half leather jobbies wear worse than the full leathers and the cloth seats and that wheel couldve been swapped in from another car anyway. When you get it you should definitely pop those door trim bits off and take out the little piece of foam inside even if there is no rust. I bet the engine bay will clean up nicely and yeah if the car was left outside sitting for a reasonable amount of time that would be why the engine bay is filthy. The engine lid does have a sort of drain but it just pretty much doesn't work. Timing belt would be worth doing if it's original, the motor is non interferance buuuuut you can still get some sweet valve meeting piston action if you try hard enough. Because it's a japanese spec car it comes with the gen3 version of the motor which you wouldn't get in a US spec 93 turbo as the us spec stayed with the old gen2 motor until they stopped selling it over there. Parts for the gen3 motor shouldn't be hard to get over there as plenty of people have been swapping them into US cars for years now.

I am totally bongo for low mileage, and the lowest actually for sure confirmed I ever saw was a Mazda Bongo 2wd van with 476 actual km. That was just about 2 months ago. Sky is the limit with kei trucks, otherwise packaging space means that if you were to, say, shove something into an AZ-1 you'd have to alter the car so much that it wouldn't be 'kei' anymore, it would be more of some hosed up custom build. Maybe you could put something larger in everdave's Pajero Mini there but then you'd be snapping all sorts of drivetrain components. Probably.

Well poo poo I know what I'm doing tomorrow morning... I managed to find a fan belt on there for my engine so I figure there must be more! edit: Fargo made it to the port mechanic! The report thus is that the power steering pump is bad but not leaking. I am curious if the driver who brought it down now has popeye arms or what. My wife and I want to drive it back from the Baltimore port because hey why not...but we need to figure out remotely insuring and registering it. We could get the plates and fly out with them. I dunno. I look to goons for advice on how practical that is. I recall seeing it being doable in the past. There is also one external access panel that seems to just be a dark void, and another that holds a mysterious blue object which I assume is related to water? And these guys (specifically the little gasket?) seem to have some sealing issue based on the photos of the cylinder head cover.  Here's a billion images. I had this engine, I don’t think it’s as uncommon as you think. I think with partsouq and stuff you should be able to correspond part #’s. But if you are ordering anyways belts / hoses / etc... would be fine. Spend some time partsouq looking up part #s and alternates and see if they have stuff available at American part stores. I didn’t need anything I sold mine and it only had 14k miles. How far are you from port and what would your expense be to get there including entering port? Shipping is a lot less than you think. And what are you going to do if battery is completely dead or the tank is empty at port? Like I said I have my twic card (haven’t used I have a great driver now) but I’m thinking of trying to get MY camper myself and filming it for YouTube. But it’s purely a maybe thing and to get content, it would be much SMARTER to just have my driver pick it up. I have 2 skylines coming same time but camper is 20 feet long so only one car will fit at a time with the camper, but he runs through my way weekly. But again I think you got a great deal and that camper looks fantastic for what you paid.

I'm waiting on a longshot reply from a guy on an Isuzu diesel pickup forum who writes in all capital letters to give me some information. Here's a thing I'm trying to understand: I find that a lot of parts on PartSouq can't be found despite it being clickable. What's the next best course of action? And as far as the port pickup, we'd have to fly from Wisconsin to Baltimore, then connect with a family member who can shuttle us to the port. Think I can bring in a bit of diesel and a jump/new battery to get it moving and evacuate it from the port? Then I'd drive about 45 minutes to our family member's place and start poking around. Worse comes to worse, I leave it at their place and have it picked up and shipped... And yes, I'd also plan to make a youtube video about it, but more from a "look at my dumb rear end" perspective, haha.

On PS look for alternate part #s the oem might not be available but another parts maker might. Yes you can bring diesel and jump box in but if you are paying outrageous $100 for escort I’d still say get a twic card. You will need a safety vest from the dollar store (bright orange or yellow) to be in port. Hey I am all for the adventure aspect of it just was mentioning it doesn’t make “sense” but I understand. As I said might go get my camper same way but I’ll probably arrange for my driver be there same day picking up skylines so if I needed help I have it. At least for me I can register and title my cars before I ever have them once I get paperwork in mail but I don’t have inspections.

Often Toyota will have updated or superceded the part, but never remove the prior part number from the system so while it exists in theory, theres not a place on earth that has that part in stock. That said, your part number doesnt show up ANYTHING on ToyoDIY or google, so it might not be correct.

  1995 Nissan Atlas camper. 9300 actual miles. Diesel, auto. Full custom interior with full kitchen and real toilet/shower. Must have been built for a business or a giveaway or something - don’t have a pic to post but the interior is totally custom with vintage 60’s look and hardwood floors. Won for an absurd price for what it is. Tried to zoom in to see what it says on front doors but couldn’t make it out. This thing cost a fortune to build and kit out. I am off the deep end...I have so so many here and on the way  Cleaning up Bluebird, need to move some vehicles ASAP. Moved the fire truck to covered storage for the moment.  And cat tax? Covering some stuff a little bit at home, supposed to get snow tonight

The 4.3l GM V-6 is a common enough swap into Samurai and Trackers to have multiple companies making kits. IIRC, the Samurai needs to be lifted a few inches to make that happen. A good amount of torque out of that engine. I don't know how you'd change plugs without yanking it from the truck.
