I have a potentially dumb pokemon question. I'm learning to breed and want some eevees; I think that two pokemon with different trainer IDs get along better? If so, does anyone have a spare male eevee or another compatible critter? I'm not doing this for competitive stuff - I just never TRIED before.  It seemed complicated and intimidating, but I want all the eeveelutions and also want to learn to breed sssoooo I figured I'd ask around. Y'all seem really friendly.

Generally breeding with a male and female of the same type leads to friendlier relations hence more eggs but dittos allow greater consistency when essentially cloning the original parent with better IV's. It depends on what you're trying to do first and foremost. Pass down egg moves? Get hidden abilities? If you just want to breed eevees to get one of every type just shack one of em' or their evolutions up with a ditto. If you want good natures, abilities, moves etc. That's where it gets a little complicated. You're gonna need an everstone to pass down natures and a destiny knot to pass down IV's for instance.

How do bottle caps work? Makes a crappy IV to a max one for battles? I have a few 5 IV pokemon and now a 3 IV Italian Ditto for shiny breeding.

That's correct-- a pair will produce eggs faster if they have different original trainer IDs. It's also faster if they're the same species. Have you beaten the story yet? If so, you can also get an Oval Charm in the ice town's left inn, upstairs, by winning a doubles battle against a trainer in there. I'm not home right now but if you're still looking later I can get you a male eevee. It's probably not necessary if you have the charm, but it doesn't hurt!

Does anyone have any tips or suggestions for someone who is newish to pokemon (Stopped at gen 1) and looking to actually make some progress in the battle tower. My hodgepodge team of my starter and random cool looking mons aren't exactly making progress. Suggestions for a team to build for this would be awesome, or at least some ideas on where to begin.

I just blew through 10 ranks using the Tough rental team. The Mimikyu on it is a goddamn house. First turn Sword Dance. Second turn dynamax and just spam the relevant attack until your opponents die.

Rent tough team, run Rotom, Dragapult and Snorlax. Rotom starts with choice scarf, so you can use trick to swap it with the opponent's starter if you can't burn it down with Overheat. Dragapult is extremely solid and Snorlax has a decent moveset. Once you get your box legendary and Eternatus hyper trained they can win by themselves.

This battle tower doesn't ban legendaries. Get your dog and eternatus and you're pretty much set. You can take your other fav to compliment them and you'll pretty much walk over everyone.

I've been trying to fill my dex in game and I'm at 343/400 but I'm finding my will breaking as I am like why the gently caress am I doing this if I don't care about doing pvp battles? But also the fact that it's kinda achievable this time has me going like I should try. (gently caress friendship evolutions)

Yeah that's why I started cause I was like well I kinda wanna breed at least some seed pokemon for next time and may as well have the chance? Pokemon is such a weird franchise in that by the time I unlock the things I find interesting, namely breeding/team building/getting eggmoves/tms, etc. the game is already over and it's useless. Like I have a lot of fun coming up with a team and setting them up for greatness but by the time I really do that with good IV's and EV's...it's the post game and since I don't pvp there's no point. It's frustrating. I wish you got the IV checker from the second you unlocked breeding....

Someone in this thread gave me some foreign 5 iv dittos for Sun and Moon and that person will forever be my hero. They actually made breeding fun, or at least much less unbearable. I should learn how to hack mons and spread the love, hacked mons are a blessing.

I just focused on one or two Pokemon a day and swapped if I found myself getting too frustrated. The only one that made me want to gnaw on my Switch was the trapinch. I spent about 10 hours over four days before I gave up. Thankfully my boyfriend took pity on me and got one too trade me. As for friendship evolutions, use the soothe bell and just go camping with them. Two rounds of playing and a round of curry was all my Pokemon needed before they were ready to evolve.
