Because Disney Infinity was a Skylanders type game, that didn't let you use characters outside of their own worlds. So you could have Mr. Incredible, and he could run around the Incredibles world, and he could run around the generic areas. But he couldn't go to the Star Wars worlds, Luke Skywalker, same restrictions, he can be anywhere generic and he can be in the Star Wars worlds, but he can't be in any like... 'licensed' property. And this is a wholely Disney owned thing, and it all goes back to a super old restriction when Disney World was just kicking off where the main idea was "Well we don't want people not going to the Aladdin stuff if they can see those things in the Cinderella stuff." Now, you might reasonably say, "Onmi, that's stupid, who the gently caress would ever do that, even if that was a mandate years ago, why would you stick too it?" Disney is dumb. The entire reason there is Ansem, the Keyblade, all of that nonsense, is because Disney rejected the simple idea pitched to them, where Mickey Mouse would unite the Disney heroes in his party and his final boss being Chernabog. That's WHY Chernabog is at The End Of The World "For some reason" because Square wanted him to be a big deal, and Disney was like "No." And that was in 2002 when Disney so didn't care about almost any of their projects. Now? Now you think there's a loving fart that happens about Frozen that Disney didn't micromanage the exact toot? Any idea thinking that Disney would let you have their villains interact is laughable, it is the funniest joke told.

Admittedly I'm picturing this being in like 30 years or something when some people who grew up on Kingdom Hearts are now in charge at Disney and decide that while that crossover policy makes sense at the parks, it doesn't make sense outside of that context, and thus decide that the franchise that they grew up with could be done better

Yes, but Disney has to let them use those as Nomura basically said the equivalent of "Yea, we asked, they said no." for KH3. Granted, they said no to Toy Story a lot too.

Honestly I haven't seen any of the discussion around the secret ending is supposed to be other than the vague "Sora/Riku in Shibuya/Verum Rex". It's really vague so I'm not sure how much there is to read into it. That said if thats actually what they'd do, I'd be on board.

The next KH game will have some original worlds and some worlds from Disney stuff and some Nomura game specific worlds and will also be a direct continuation of this story and the poo poo with the Master of Masters and it'll own bones like the rest of the franchise. Verum Rex/Shibuya will probably tie into the dreaming world poo poo or the idea of worlds that were lost (Games that were canceled or Nomura didn't get to finish) Please be excited for Bouncer references.

So on an entirely different topic, I realized not too long ago that if Xehanort's Heartless succeeded in his plan in Kingdom Hearts I, it would've royally hosed over Master Xehanort's initial plan. Sora literally stopped Xehanort from screwing himself over.

He pretty much existed in service of his own schemes and plans and didn't really give a poo poo what Master Xehanort wanted. Knowing that his own ambitions were hosed, he also basically allowed Xehanort's schemes to fail and was more than happy to lose to Riku and Sora in the end.

I really like the (probably completely unintentional) rationale that KH1 Ansem only had a very vague, half-remembered idea of what he was doing, and that he called himself Ansem not as an attempt at obfuscation but simply because it was the most likely identity when he was putting himself back together, post-heartlessening.
