If I worked one of these places I'd absolutely get myself killed because I'd get too complacent scrubbing the reptiles. They're just adorable.

I've learned a universal truth about animals: everyone seems to be itchy, all the time, and those animals that have gotten comfortable with humans will want to be scratched. Even fish will go for it.

Just try doing that with a saltie and see what happens. Please don't Seriously don't. At the Australian Reptile Park it takes 3 people to feed them, one with the food and 2 spotters to make sure they are safe from being eaten themselves. They are probably the one animal that will never be scritched by humans

I know what you're thinking but no, I've never put round glasses and a rice paddy hat on him. Enjoy a photo of him with our other meezer, Gumbo.

I don't care if it's not technically cute, it's made me go "Aww" and bought a tear to my eye. For non-(round)football fans, David Martin is the son of West Ham legend Alvin Martin, who played for the team for 20 years and almost 500 games. Obviously he was bought up a West Ham fan but never made the cut in their youth team, and bounced around lower league clubs for years before being bought as third-choice keeper by West Ham, no doubt expecting never to play. After their first-choice keeper was injured and the second-choice proved to be absolute loving clownshoes David made his West Ham (and Premier League) debut today at the age of 33. He kept a clean sheet (didn't concede any goals) and generally loving bossed the game, helping West Ham to their first win in 9 games, away against their much bigger London rival Chelsea. When the final whistle went... https://twitter.com/rogbennett/status/1200826973100085248 https://twitter.com/footballdaily/status/1200828168380329985

goddamnedtwisto posted:Round football stuff that can be just as DAWWWWW as a kitten. Baseball edition: When players make their debuts, their parents are frequently there as you would expect. TV broadcasts will frequently fill some time with little interviews with the parents in the stands. Here's a guy's dad being interviewed as his son is up to bat in his first game. URL gives it away, but it won't take away from dad's pure joy. https://www.mlb.com/cut4/marlins-isan-diaz-hits-first-hr-with-parents-on-tv And from 2015 - Reds pitcher Michael Lorenzen making his debut. Mom gets interviewed in the top of the 2nd. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ni62YLVeoVo (Skip to 45 seconds or so. Sometimes debuts aren't perfect, but mom sure doesn't care.)

If I may, one of my favorite bits from the novel Unseen Academicals by Terry Pratchett: quote:'You ought to stay here and play football,' said Juliet. 'You know what some people said when we were drinking? They said Dave Likely was your father.'
