FOX’s strategy was pretty good tbh. Putting their best game at Noon seems to have worked out terrifically for them and the pregame show is honestly pretty good. Leinart kinda sucks but everyone else does a good job.

Is this Heaven?
I'm surprised anything beat it because it's so ingrained in the culture of the sport but gameday is pretty bad outside of the picks segment and the head gear thing and even that has a tendency to be uncomfortable due to Corso's current condition. It is probably mostly because the fox show leads into OSU so often though

i only watch the final 10 minutes of gameday, don't really need the rest

also i swear most weeks this year fox had either michigan or ohio state for that noon game

It's a pretty good play. Michigan and OSU are massive, nationally known teams who draw big ratings, and basically every other game in the noon broadcast slot isn't of any real concern on the national stage. OSU's a perennial national contender too, so why not show them relatively unopposed as TV slots go?

tOSU has also had a real good year, and that pre-game show was leading into The Game which had some stakes on the line.

Still going to assume Gameday needs changes and refreshing, based on the one weekend I was in the States this season.

Soooo, MLB is allowing each of the 30 teams to control and sell their own streaming rights.

https://www.foxbusiness.com/sports/mlb-local-digital-streaming-rights.amp

Not sure how this affects the landscape since they’re still beholden to their TV contracts (which presumedly includes the local streaming rights) or how it affects the future of mlb.tv.

If OTT in-market streaming becomes a thing for MLB teams (and that's a big if), expect them to be expensive as gently caress to offset costs. After all, most of their contracts are held by Sinclair, Comcast, and AT&T.

Oregon/Utah did very good numbers on ABC.

AA posted:

ABC’s telecast of the Pac-12 Championship game between Oregon and Utah was the Pac-12’s most-watched championship contest since 2014 as well as the second-best audience ever in the nine-year history of the game. The broadcast garnered an average of 5,856,000 viewers, which is up 44 percent from last year’s Pac-12 Championship game between Washington and Utah.

This is big, because audiences have shown they'll just completely ignore the Pac-12 title game if it isn't interesting.

As a legit broadcaster yeah Hawk was awful. But he did come up with some sayings that will be around baseball forever.

His seething silence when the White Sox lost by walk-off and rage against the umpires was some good poo poo too.
