LifeSunDeath posted:it's really suspect they would record this on vhs instead of the raw feed from the cabinet. in fact it looks like they used maim to run this, also why did he change the board out halfway through? Nice Ugh lovely snipe. Well, I'm reupped on heroes III memes, so here you go. As a side note, any text required to get the memes is in English. If the game text is in some other language, and you don't get the meme, a translation won't help. om nom nom has a new favorite as of 07:16 on Dec 2, 2019 |

Isn't this just basic courtesy though? Everyone I know who's under 28 is stressed and either depressed, anxious, etc ad nauseum. I don't really get why it's funny except in the way that gamers find the "gamer word" thing funny or boomers find their weird-rear end memes funny. It feels like a boomer meme tbh.

I thought this was the audio from the Shmorky call at first, and now am mildly confused that that has not turned into a meme

I don't really get why it's funny except in the way that gamers find the "gamer word" thing funny or boomers find their weird-rear end memes funny. I think its an offshoot of the form letter for sad friends thing that came through a week or so ago. People approach relationships with different levels of formality, and people who are generally informal find people who are formal to be very funny. I bet the primary difference is between people who met/interact with friends in early life primarily through text vs face to face. Text can be easily misinterpreted and you get no body language to gauge the other person before you start talking, so folks whose friends/peers are mostly online learn to be way more careful and analytical. If you're mostly in-person, you don't need to be like that unless you have problems interpreting facial expressions/body language. Its culture shock, like going to another country that speaks the same language, but does everything just a bit different. As one of the informal people, its loving hilarious to see people who seem to view friendship as working an emotional helpdesk, complete with imaginary HR department. Like a friend looking for help is just another trouble ticket.

Its a terrible way of wording it, asking someone if you can say something that will hurt them will just make the person go haywire before you even get to actually say what it was. The "joke" with these is that they're ridiculously elaborate and useless when something like "How are you doing?" and having a normal conversation beforehand would work just fine.

It's just a weird stilted way of the standard "are you sitting down?" or "hold on to your hat", "we need to talk", etc.

It's also manipulative to phrase it that way because the vagueness puts you in a state of immediate, nonspecific anxiety that you can't even think rationally about because all you know is "I'm about to be hurt emotionally." Like how do you say "no" to that? It's either "well I was alright until about 10 seconds ago" or "no, I was in a bad place and I'm in an even worse one now that I can look forward to whatever it is you're about to tell me." What happened to being like "hey, are you able to talk to me for a bit?" At least then you don't know if it's about you, and you can always be like "I'm in the middle of something right now but I'll make time for it later." If the person gets upset about your boundaries, either it's a much more immediate crisis than warrants the kind of robotic Friendship Withdrawal Application Form, or that person was never intending to respect the boundary they're prodding in the first place.

Being in job hunting mode sucks because you have to answer any phone calls from unknown phone numbers, of which, 99% are robocalls/scammers.
