How do your work schedule and production targets change in the offseason? Does it lighten up at the end of a season or do you push hard in between to prepare for the new year?

Sean Bratches is potentially resigning because he has issues with the amount of travel involved. Lmao this is the same guy who wants to make the calendar 25 races.

Obvious solution is to do the first 12 races in the USA, then go hit the 4 socialist european and Baku/Abu Dhabi/Vietnam moneymakers, then back to the USA for the rest of the season.

Hard to argue with that, get some real tracks like Barber and Road America and Laguna Seca instead of these sad parades at "Silverstone" and "Paul Ricard". Europe is a shameful continent

I love the American version of Protestant work ethic where you basically have to work yourself to death unless you’re a high level executives in which case work life balance suddenly becomes an issue.

It must be incredibly taxing shaking hands with local dignitaries on the grid and signing ridiculously lucrative contracts. I can’t imagine that guy has a moment to spare during a race weekend.

Varies by department.

Composites will be utterly rammed all the way through until T1 getting the cars built.

Everyone else is busy all year round, perhaps with a bit of a push up to T1 to get some new tech ready for the new season.

I wasn't really referring to you guys giving me poo poo, it's my family and "friends" who endlessly tell me what is wrong with the car and how to fix it.

Every time Williams qualifies or finishes 19 and 20, I like to imagine that it is mostly Rebus's fault. It just makes F1 feel more relatable.

These seasons need to be loving 16 races, I checked out of both F1 and MotoGP this year with like 4 races to go. Have dedicated testing tracks and live coverage if you want to make it an event but I can’t loving care less when it’s race 19 on the same car/bike and we already know the pecking order of the teams.

Cool. Has design been fairly locked down for next season already? It seems like there is loads of time for wind tunneling, how long does it take composites to build a car/ when is the design locked down for stuff like engine bay and (Ferrari style) sidepods?

I don't know the answer to most of this, as I'm too far detached from the production side of things. Best guess it takes about a month for each full chassis?

I wouldn't say there's ever a lockdown as such, moreso a series of target dates for different parts that need to be met so they can build it in time before the next thing needs building. This means final design releases are often right up against the delivery date to get the max performance in.

The tunnel runs all year round for the maximum amount of time we're allowed to run it, so doesn't really get affected by car build as it is business as usual.
