I’ve posted about it in here before, but my contribution here is that my friend had a class with John Parker Wilson my freshman year, and he would walk into the room and say "John Parker Wilson. Quarterback" when he got to class. If you ever listen to the homer broadcast for Bama games he does color, and it should not surprise you to know that he sounds exactly like Kenny Powers

Online courses are fine for people with a specific need for them, but the idea that they are as effective at instruction and learning as in-class experiences is not borne out by anyone who actually teaches. It's part of the same thinking that led administrators and MBAs to slobber over MOOCs as the future of education. Football content: Jordan Elliott declared for the draft. Mizzou's defense isn't gonna be very good next year, I don't think. Mike_V fucked around with this message at 18:16 on Dec 3, 2019 |

It’s quite obvious that this discussion isn’t just about online classes, people are using college courses as a means of broaching the wider topic in how student athletes are treated.

I think I've figured out a way to at least give odds, so I'm trying some predictions for this week - pre:ACC Clemson vs Virginia Clemson 89% Big 10 Ohio State vs Wisconsin Ohio State 95% Big 12 Baylor vs Oklahoma Oklahoma 75% SEC Georgia vs LSU LSU 73% Pac 12 Oregon vs Utah Utah 74% AAC Cincinnati @ Memphis Memphis 84% CUSA Florida Atl H UAB UAB 51% MAC Central Mich vs Miami-Ohio CMU 91% MWC Boise State H Hawaii Boise 80% SunBelt App State H Louisiana App 65% Army vs Navy Navy 75% I ran these through an RNG for wins and losses. I got upsets for Baylor and Army, which doesn't mean much for the playoff - the Georgia loss means Utah leaps them and gets #4. So, a projected final moon poll - Team Record 1. Ohio State 13-0 2. Clemson 13-0 3. LSU 13-0 4. Utah 12-1 5. Georgia 11-2 6. Notre Dame 10-2 7. Penn State 10-2 8. Alabama 10-2 9. Baylor 12-1 10. Florida 10-2 11. Wisconsin 10-3 12. Oklahoma 11-2 13. Auburn 9-3 14. I had a lot of athlete overlap with my classes, but the most successful player's last name I can never remember (first name Tre/Trevor) because I'm really bad with names but he was my acting partner in the drama genEd I took. He actually somehow made time for us to meet up and rehearse lines once which is one more time than some of the other students in that class on various projects. -- Anyway I think they're very worried about the Fiesta Bowl because I've now gotten a third email offering discounted Arizona resident prices. The Fiesta Bowl is notorious for being a ticket you can get for free pretty easily for free so it doesn't exactly have the best attendance history anyway but they moved into a bigger stadium that can't afford to give tickets away as readily.

I was impressed that Auburn really did snap the ball almost instantly after the whistle blew to start the clock again at the end of the first half. I didn't expect them to. But really there should be a rule change imo. There's a reason we have clock runoff rules and the 3-second spike rule. This instance was pretty a pretty egregious example of one team benefiting when they didn't deserve to.

The only hurdle is that I have to find someplace to do a capstone project and the school absolutely refuses to give any guidance at all. Turns out it's tough to network if your classes are online! Anyway, they're fine for athletes and anybody else who has other obligations. The vast majority of my classmates were working moms.
