During the last recess, a lady on CNN, like someone paid probably hundreds of thousands of dollars to talk about this poo poo, had her mind blown that the founders made it so the president had to be a natural born citizen because of fear of foreign interference. Like, she knew the first part, that the president had to be a natural born citizen, but she was amazed about the reason. How is that even possible? I don't think I was ever even told that, but it's the obvious reason that anyone would simply "get". Man, CNN.

The pool of tenured constitutional scholars from tier 1 or 2 law schools that would be willing to argue against impeachment here has got to be pretty shallow

If anyone's feeling bored, here is a law review article written by one Prof. Turley regarding the nature of impeachment proceedings.quote:The records from the Constitutional Convention and state ratification debates are simply too sparse and varied to sustain any clear interpretation of the adoption of the English standard. Three conclusions about this standard, however, appear well established and generally accepted. First, the impeachment standard was clearly intended to extend beyond criminal acts to include some noncriminal acts....

Why would I leap paying attention if no one ever gets their comeuppance? In that case no, no one has been directly sent to prison yet. Might want to check out of the thread again for a year or so.

As I understand it, Republicans got to choose 1 witness while Democrats chose 3. Is that because Democrats are the majority or is that because there's only 1 Constitutional law professor with a reputation who is willing to stick their neck out and say this isn't impeachable?

Also, I did have a weird moment of clarity when CNN came back from its break with the graphic of Trump's head next to "Impeachment Hearing". This feels like it was so inevitable. I remember back in 2015 when Trump was flirting with running and I knew he wouldn't because he's an idiot conman who has done all the crimes and it would expose him. Then he actually ran and I was sure he would drop out for the same reason. Then he won the primary and I was sure he would tank it because even he knew he was punching above his weight and if he won the presidency he would be under too much scrutiny. Then he won and of course he's going to be impeached. It's like the finale of Veep when you hear who got impeached. It's like, it couldn't have gone any other way.
