I was forced to spend way too much time in high school (late 2000s) listening to Bubba the Love Sponge because I always had the radio playing my favorite classic rock channel when I went to sleep, but they simulcast his show and it always came on right at 6:00 AM. I ended up actually having a sort of fight-or-flight reaction to the "Voodoo Child" intro because that's what introduced his show and also meant I had 5 or 10 minutes left before it was time for school. Having the music I need to fall back asleep interrupted by someone as vile as Bubba the Love Sponge only made it worse. As sad as I was to see 95.6 get shut down and turned into an AM simulcast, at least I never had to listen to that motherfucker again.

Basically gifs but they'd play on a player in Dos. They were a few kb because they'd be grainy and small, but you could see boobs bouncing around. The Pizza Hut salad bar reminds me of one of the best deals in the 90s. Wendy's Super Bar was awesome. I could get all the white people tacos, bland spaghetti, chili or an awesome salad I wanted for just $2.99 . It went away because it was pretty much too successful. It was discontinued because employees had a hard time keeping it stocked and clean in addition to their regular duties so sadly they went away in 1998 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3gzNhfJek0s I would hit them up at least once a week trying to maximize my minimum wage video store job cash.

They may still have them but I also haven't lived near a Godfather's Pizza in like 16 years. I feel like the 90's were really kinda the end of intentionally sitting down to eat at a fast food place. I mean it still happens, but it seems to be 90% old people who've been chowing down at the Golden Arches every day for 40 years. Hell they don't even have play places anymore, I remember about 7 years ago now (I'm getting loving old ) when I was leaving town I had breakfast in McDonald's with a friend, and they had quietly tore out the old play place and turned it into a "lounge." I'm guessing the fact that Pizza Hut and it's ilk no longer have a dining area is just a portent for fast food in general as it becomes more of a staple for travelers needing cheap hot snacks, or the go to for when you've forgotten your lunch on the counter at home. Even the last few times I've been inside a Taco Bell they don't have someone operating the counter anymore and just have you use the kiosk (much to the confusion of boomers who have no one to boss around).

Around the mid 2000s Americans also started to become more health conscious and so while fast food places didnt really fail because they were so ubiquitous they did see enough of a drop in numbers that many have tried to rebrand, like how McDonald's now tries to look like a starbucks.

The only local good salad bars I know of are at Golden Corral but fuuuck going there and Stevi B's which is a gimmick pizza buffet place that's in Georgia. They sell stuff like a baked potato pizza or a taco pizza. My kids love it (It's meh).

I think part of it was that people also became better educated on what GOOD food actually looked like out of a proper cafe or restaurant for a decent price. Not even to be food-snobby, even just basic things like better-quality burgers that aren't merely reheated.

He’s got it covered in patches from all the programs he works; nobody else does this. Anyway, he insists on going to Golden Corral for lunch. Ugh. We’re at GC in Huntsville, guy’s cramming food down his gullet. This old crinkly couple notices him while they’re at the register. Old guy has a walker. He and his wife start very slowly hobbling over to our table. They get there and the man says “Excuse me,” looking at my cow orker and his 350 Nomex-wrapped pounds, “Are you an astronaut?” I really like to think the old man went through all that effort just to gently caress with him. We still have 1 still in operation sit down(but mostly delivery and pick up) Pizza Hut down where I live. There was another one about 2 miles away that became a church. Stupid hut roof and everything. It was hilarious. They eventually remodeled aka removed the "HUT" roof and it was much less hilarious.
