I'm in a pub in my safe as houses Tory seat and there are country people on the next table talking about voting Labour. We passed a torn down vote Tory sign on the way here. They're usually everywhere by this point. It was never going to convince everybody but it feels like the result may be better at least.

Woke up feeling hungover despite not drinking last night, and way too late to get the train to go canvassing, so instead I've had a pleasant day of light housework and Christmas decorating, and chucked £35 Jezza's way. Still not made up my mind what to do on election day itself - GOTV in my home constituency is probably a bit of a waste of time (very safe Labour seat), Thurrock is probably the one that could most benefit from the extra pair of hands given the very narrow margin, but at the same time Chingford and Two Cities are both closer and easier to get to and the allure of being able to claim a very small part in IDS' scalp, if it happens, would be awesome. Think I'll probably make up my mind on the morning - if the weather's really poo poo I'll probably gird my loins and head for Thurrock because they really will need the help, otherwise probably head for Chingford even though Two Cities has a much better selection of pubs.

I've noticed a lot more this week how the Lib Dem campaign sign looks like a warning sign. Very ominous and appropriate.

I'm a Canadian but I've been on the edge of my seat watching this election since the 2017 surprise labour victory. As a Canadian you have no idea how much I have wished to have a candidate like Bernie Sanders or Jeremy Corbyn to vote for, throw money at and volunteer for. We have two "centre-left" parties and both are essentially neoliberal and inadequate. Which is why I'm hopeful you guys can elect a labour government and show the rest of us it can be done. I've long believed socialist (or social-democratic) societies have to be built internationally, leveraging momentum built in countries culturally similar to yours. We need organizations like momentum here in Canada and in the USA. We need it badly. So please... please everyone do what you can to get Labour elected... We need this win. It'll send shockwaves abroad. I watched the last debate and couldn't believe what I was seeing or hearing. My partner, an English teacher and linguistic major by trade was practically shouting at the screen. She may not have felt particularly energized by Corbyn but it was blindingly obvious who was more suitable to govern. Whenever BoJo opened his mouth she kept telling me "What is this guy saying?!? He sounds like Trump! It's just words, hes blasting out words with zero meaning or intent." Then I saw the polls saying Britain thought Boris won the debate and am left seriously confused how it can be possible. Are these people lead poisoned? How can anyone think Boris won that debate?

Me because my name is quite rare and there are only about 2 of us in the UK so if you google my name, it's quite likely to be my stuff that comes up. Others because they are teachers, work with offenders, residential psychiatric patients or whatever. (As one got beaten up by a former patient almost 15 years after last caring for that patient, very understandable). Thanks. I think one of them is just a Tory and has a legitimate looking account and actually engages in conversation. The other posts trollish content and never responds and has a completely blank account so I suspect less than honest motives. I've reported the latter to Facebook for now, hopefully they get purged.

Yeah, I've been catching up with the thread and while it's a little distressing to think about how Labour strongholds like Bolsover are seemingly vulnerable, and that the "traditional white working class" are shifting from Labour to Tory, I think that's not the sign of Tories winning as much as it is a sign of voting patters transforming into something the country hasn't seen before. This election is coming down to the generational gap that will define the transition into the next decade - the old are rich, sociopathic, and are completely unwilling to even contemplate the idea that maybe the lifestyle they've cherished and withheld from others will lead to the demise of their younger relatives. They will vote to protect their own interests and their own blissful ignorance. Young people across the entire country are finally mobilizing to seize democratic representation because we've realised nobody else will, and we are a significant voting block. Just like with Bolsover etc., there are now also Tory "stronghold" seats that - as a result of this surge in youth voting - will be vulnerable to Labour this time around. Uxbridge holds the loving Prime Minister, and had a 10,000+ majority four years ago, but is now a very realistic gain for Labour thanks to what is primarily a socialist youth movement.
