Well of course, with the election, suddenly there are heaps of volunteers all over the CLP turning out for stalls, canvassing, leafleting, envelope stuffing and various other tasks. I really think the meeting format doesn't lend itself to enthusiastic participation and it needs something like an election to galvanize people. I guess because I spent almost 30 years in Corporate 'agenda, minutes of last meeting, yadda yadda, any other business' is one of those things I just put up with. There's one activist comes to our meetings who says it's all really odd and she doesn't get it or understand it. She's a get-out-there-and-do-something don't sit around discussing minutiae of policies, protocols, motions and so forth.She's probably more typical. I think it is sad that this is one of the things that has stuck. Saying that though I think I was able to persuade one of my co-workers to vote Labour tonight by understanding her views on anti-semitism whilst also saying how poo poo Boris has been and how much good Labour can do. She was at least never going to vote Tory or Lib-dem so that is good. All we can do is hold on, I hope we succeed. All power to the Soviets (as in the workers councils, not the imperialist power) and I can only hope that we see us all through the other side.
