Important to remember that Manhattan is not dead as of this episode, just transported. I can't see Manhattan dying, but it does feel like they're setting up transferring his powers to another, which would be dumb, corny, and ultimately a tragedy for whoever does get it. Unless it's only temporary AND it's given to LG who becomes GodCop and erases the concept of Racism from the minds of Americans and the US Government. That'd be an ending worth talking about. He definitely needs to keep tinkering and also let people know what he did to massage his ego even though that defeats the entire point of his plan.

One of my least favorite of the series. I'll hold full judgement until the final episode. The thing that mostly bothered me was the Scene with Veidt and Manhattan, and the whole Europa reveal. It all just seemed too thin and basic with Veidts just ridiculous quick acceptance of whatever Manhattan was gonna give him. And lesser so the misdirection that made it seem he was imprisoned seems all pointless, which i guess should of been more clear to me at the d of the trial scene. though, maybe it's just Manhattan keeping him busy, until Doc needs him to save him. Yeah, this is pretty much the point of his entire character all the way back to the book. He's the "smartest man in the world". He's also a narcissist and authoritarian, regardless of his intentions. It's a characterization that might be even more important now than when the book was released, because every institution and aspect of our society is increasingly dependent on a data infrastructure built and owned by Adrian Veidts. There's no metric by which it's bad writing; it's in-character, it serves the themes of the work (Watchmen is an anarchist political treatise, a warning against superheroes and the cultures that create them), and it in some way resembles or reveals the world around us. If there's anything wrong with it, it's that it's too on-the-nose.

It's a shame they tied the 7K to Rorschach's Journal. A contemporary theme (meme?) is loss of faith in experts and the delegitimization of institutions, and it would have been interesting to see that play out in the Watchmen universe via an underground anarchist(/terrorist/whatever) network who know the truth about 11/2. Have this play out against the themes of algorithmic perception control and technocratic authoritarianism and voila, season 2.

To me "Is Rorschach a cool & good protagonist?" is like this shows version of GRRM asking the GOT showrunners who Jon Snows parents are. Lindelof answered right and I suspect Snyder would probably answer wrong.

I will say that I don’t think they made Mr. Philips or Ms. Crookshanks do any actual nudity, which is a huge stride for hbo and its history of mandatory nudity. I’m pretty sure their asses were cgi’d on last night, and Mr. Philips had a stunt dick for the play in episode 2.

It's been a while since I've read the book but from what I gather Rorschach probably was a racist, just not an all-consuming one. Like if you asked him he would probably say being a minority was a contributing factor to an already immoral persons immorality. Aka he's an average American conservative. The big difference being that Rorschach would have no shame telling you so.
