Drop the bandibass!

Out of curiosity, what happens if a prospective PM loses their seat in an election? Do they stay on as a PM or is there some sort of leadership change that has to occur?

I can't stop imagining the situation where Tories are largest party in parliament but Boris losing his seat.

Thanks, I have been, I've wanted to be a member for a little while but wasn't sure if it was better to directly donate for now, but the sooner I join the sooner I can vote to help keep the party in the right direction!

It takes a double payment the month after you sign up, so the money won't be available right now. I'd advise donating directly.

I can pay the full annual fee upfront by credit card, but it does say "More of your money goes to helping us campaign if you pay by direct debit". Not sure if that's just down to card fees that would still be there for a direct donation though.

It's easy to blame it on 'Workington man' types the trump safari piece was about.

It's a searing indictment of the effectiveness of the system in exploiting people. I'm annoyed at the idiots too, but they're mostly just led that way by being constantly lied to and emotionally exploited. The way I see it, Tory voters are mostly redeemable*, but Tory politicians are not. Include all the active and knowing enablers of Tory policy in the unredeemable category too, IMO.

Oh hey, I think the tabloids constantly dying Corbyn red is actually supposed to be a compliment. Check out this cover from one of Bozza's books:

Perhaps it's all just intended to show that Jezza is one of them, a real British patriot with a healthy gammonesque complexion, one might even say he's "in the pink" (and the stink).

Here's a blurb for Bozza's book, by the way:

quote:

The Romans created the most successful and longest lasting empire in history. They conquered and civilised a territory that stretched from Scotland to Libya, from Portugal to Iraq - and then ran it for more than 400 years. The dream of Rome has lived on in the memory of European leaders ever since, and one after the other they have tried to imitate the Roman achievement. Charlemagne tried it. Napoleon tried it. Mussolini tried it. And now the European Union can be seen as the latest attempt to rediscover the unity of the Roman empire. So how did the Roman's pull it off?

If that was the twist, the turn came later. After an appearance on a popular daytime television show, Johnson appeared to use a personal Huawei P20 smartphone to take a selfie with This Morning’s presenters, one of whom explained that the prime minister had "whipped his phone out" to take the selfie. But as speculation started as to whether the Chinese device was a threat to national security and U.S. pledges, officials clarified that the phone was not Johnson’s, but had been borrowed from a staff member.

https://www.theguardian.com/media/2019/nov/17/boris-johnson-met-alexander-lebedev-without-security-after-nato-summit

quote:

The prime minister, who was foreign secretary at the time, met Russian billionaire businessman Alexander Lebedev, whose family owns Britain’s Independent and Evening Standard newspapers, following a summit of foreign ministers in Brussels staged in the wake of the poisoning of ex-Russian agent Sergei Skripal.

The two met in Italy in April 2018, a month after the attack using the novichok nerve agent in Salisbury, when Johnson, in what appears to be a highly unusual break with protocol, apparently left behind his personal security detail and flew to a lavish party at a palazzo near Perugia hosted by Lebedev’s son Evgeny.
