I've taken the day off work, it's all to play for lads Hey, long time thread lurker here. I just wanted to say thanks for your hard work, especially in the rain and cold of the last few days. The result here last election was infuriating (especially as I knew two people who didn't vote) and it would be great to see a gain for Labour and the back of Royston. I have been trying to convince my friends to vote Labour and hope that goes a little way to helping. While I'm posting, is there a thread consensus on whether The Conversation is any good? My (leftie) dad often sends me articles from there and they seem okay but the thread's shown before that you can't take much at face value.

About to ZZZ and also just want to say my thoughts are with people. I lined up a board game night with some friends on Friday which will be either a nice distraction or a nice capstone to a good day. Going to try not to follow the coverage on Thursday otherwise I'll be a nervous insomniac wreck. Not been able to keep away the last few times though.

This is a post from Australia. Get out there and vote against Boris Johnson!!! Do it ASAP! Get a bacon sandwich and a cosy tea while you are out to vote, make a day of it! Boris Johnson is a loving fraud and has no business running England nor being anywhere near real power. The boosters, grifters and lobbyists supporting him are the only ones who will benefit from him winning. The rest of you will be hosed. Get your friends in on it and vote Labor.

Some nervous couple of days ahead, even for me. I feel this election will not just determine the way ahead in the UK, but in the wider world, this election can show that you can win on a socialist plattform and could, I hope, galvanize our worthless left parties away from centrist consensus BS.

I got my postal vote in last week for the jam man (had to vote Welsh Labour but maybe we can make them better). I’m a long time lurker in this thread and it really has taught me so much, really enjoying the podcast too. As a filthy immigrant in Australia, I’m excited for the prospect of a better life for all my family who are left back in the UK. May also consider moving back when everything goes to plan this Thursday - let’s do this!

Showing that a left wing manifesto can do well would help boost the left globally, especially in the modern age when, like, an American considering Bernie can wander into UKMT August 2020 and see how Labour is making our lives better. 2017 already helped a bit because it showed that at the very least it doesn't have to be a disaster, Corbyn in No 10 would be a huge thing though.

I'd love to see the UK set the template forward for the path out of right authoritarian decline (albeit through an incredibly messy and imperfect road to getting there.)

It's been a hard-working week on the campaign and I ended up dreaming of canvassing last night. Luckily I can tell I'm not too-far gone as I was only semi-hard when I woke up. When you have full on morning wood from canvass dreams, that's the point when you really need a break for your own sanity.

Communist Thoughts posted:its loving terrifyingly close though, look at that tory swing in 2017, what are the scots doing??? Hi fellow Edinburgh North And Leither! I see we've both been having the same dilemma. Personally I'm going with Labour - my own elaborate justification for this involves the SNP gaining anyway so the risk of letting a tory in seems reduced, and the yougov MRP showing a similar pattern. Not sure if this is the correct tactical decision but that's how I'm leaning. For anyone wondering, the tory vote in this constituency is likely because it contains the well-to-do New Town of Edinburgh. Also in general the scottish gains are due to the tories positioning themselves as The Only Stop The Indyref Party every single election to the exclusion of all other policies. Strangely no mention of Brexit on my tory leaflets, funny that...

I want Corbyn to win. Honestly I see brexit as likely to kick off the next big recession, at least in Europe, and the elites will be fine while it will crush the poor. And while I'm all for revolution, it didn't materialize in 2008/9 so it won't this time either. Also Corbyn is just the most jam grandpa

I'm gonna go vote tomorrow and vote labour HARD. Then I'm going to try and not check the exit polls and try and get a good night's sleep instead because I have to work on Friday. Not sure how I'm going to hold back though. I remember after the referendum waking up at like 4:30am and checking the results, not being able to go back to bed because I was so shocked. So just got up and angrily went to the gym to try and work off the horrible pit in my stomach.
