I know this thread is not at all representative but the level of hope and engagement here compared to 2017 is insane. There were certainly nowhere near as many of us getting out and actually canvassing/leafleting/generally helping out last time round. If that has even been slightly replicated across the country we could be on the cusp of something big. I've been saying it for a while now and I still believe it: the polls have got this very, very wrong.

Hallo from Poland to you UK Goons. Even though my life has very little to do with the United Kingdom on a daily basis right now, I still follow this thread. I can’t help and notice the anxiety and fear about tomorrow here, and I just wanted to know I love y’all and your crazy island(s). It sucks that we had to go through all this bullshit to get to this point. I would have preferred the Brexit referendum to not end with the result it did, doubly so since it was driven in a large part by anti-Polish sentiment. It sucks that the left is in disarray across the continent and Corbyn doesn’t have the tenacity to bin the referendum results, like the Tories have to hang on to the loving thing. Me and my friends in the late 80’s and throughout the nineties grew up on British culture, and there’s a reason why so many Poles chose the UK as their new home when they came of age and their fresh capitalism-laden reality failed to give them a chance. One of the first things you read in elementary school is Wing 303, about Polish fighter pilots in the Battle of Britain. We grew up on Monty Python, Oasis vs. Blur, the Premier League, Madness, Pink Floyd, Terry Pratchett and loving Ray Cokes on MTV (you don’t have good taste when you’re 12). It’s even more lovely that whenever I’d visit the UK after the referendum, I’d see mostly apathy from friends and colleagues, and I understand - we’re coming off of 20 years of wars, the internet was a loving mistake and the world, literally, is going to poo poo. In all of this, I have high hopes - a landslide would be too much to expect I think, but the Tories will get a bloody nose, one way or another. If you feel lovely or anxious, remember there’s a whole continent out there with at least half of it, give or take, rooting for you leftie motherfuckers. Godspeed!

We're doing exceptionally better than ever before ( but then they didn't have me before). She may also realise the enormity of being a mp. Whereas, our beloved Tory overlord is so smug and complacent she needs her arse kicked from here to hades. So yeah, we dont know. Sorry.

The realignment of where the various votes are going, I think, makes it particularly hard to tell. A lot of labour's support is gonna come from new voters and we've no idea where they live. It could leave the tories with a majority but turn half their seats into marginals, it could give us a hung parliament and let a coalition push through franchise extensions and the brexit referendum followed by a new election.

oh but seriously I posted:how is the snp never factored in they seem like the big giant head of the uk on maps but then mebbe nobody really lives there Scotland has 59 parliament seats of 650, and 5.5 million people out of 66.5 million. Scotland is the sparsest area of the UK, I think this goes back to the Highland Clearances - there's generally very few people outside of the central belt around Glasgow and Edinburgh. The SNP are usually about 3-4% on UK polls, and the difference between the votes needed for "SNP Crush Everyone" versus "Humiliation For Loser Sturgeon" is well within the margin of error for a UK-wide poll. There are a couple of Scotland-only polls and those are probably a better bet to get some idea what's going on

Apparently Reading West is one of the really important ones that could change hands? Sure hope it does and a bunch of others do, I'm debating calling in sick on Friday just cause I don't think I can stand all of the management types crowing about the Tories doing anything better than getting annihilated like they obviously deserve. Simultaneously if Labour wins or it's minority party time or whatever, I would love to just go and get a drink as soon as the news breaks.
