Yep, and there's a real fear that low-information BXP voters may only find out the party isn't running in their constituency when they get to the polling station. If that happens, do we think they'll quietly vote Conservative instead, or do we think they'll explode in a shower of gammony rage at this betrayal and go home to furiously post Daily Heil comments? Here's me gloating about this when it was raised in the thread: Braggart posted:This could actually be beneficial. If they only find out at the polling station and their rage only begins then, I suspect they won't then vote Conservative because they haven't had time to come to terms with that being their only option. I reckon they'll storm off in a huff, and then some of them will regret not voting CON in the coming days ...which I hadn't even thought of when I gloated about this a few days before: Braggart posted:
They know full well that they have a lot of low-information voters, because normally they knowingly take full advantage. But now it could gently caress them over and they are bricking it. Check out the comments on the tweet. Also check out the comments on the Youtube vid oh wait you can't because comments were closed when they started to get real bad

So my postal voting constituency ended up being Poplar & Limehouse, where Apsara Begum is standing. She’s got my vote and if you’re there she should have yours too. It’s a very safe seat (67.3% / 39k people last time) but hopefully we can do better still this year.

Longtime lurker in UKMT, been following closely from Australia. Godspeed today everyone - may the red mist of a Labour victory descend over the British isles, heralding in an enlightened era of great change. Corbyn’s ability to develop and articulate true progressive politics in such a genuine and heartfelt way serves as inspiration to the left globally. Solidarity forever.

Voted in a safe Labour seat. This is the same time I vote every year, but the last time my polling station was this busy was the EU referendum. 2015 and 2017 GEs it was empty when I voted.

I've done my duty this morning, out the way before my 12pm shift starts. While I'm twiddling my thumbs waiting, I've been reading through Mark Blyth's "Austerity : The history of a dangerous idea", and it's got me interesting in understanding more about economics from a Keynesian perspective (and maybe it's counter arguments too, so I understand the pros and cons to the theory). The BBC also kindly threw up an article about modern monetary theory as well, so I was wondering if I anyone could recommend any reading along those lines which maybe didn't quite go as indepth as actual mathmatical equations like Keynes General Theory of money.

Ugh! I was reading the latest Dr Moderate polling thread on Twitter and spotted a Wild Pissflaps in the replies. On the plus side, DM's predictions were: Lab minority govt: 45% Hung: 40% Con majority: 10% Lab majority: 5% Downer that an overall Lab majority has such low odds, but I'll still take what's there. (And of course: Polls Mean Nothing.)

Blyth is great, watch his YouTube's too. For further reading I suggest David Graebers "Debt:the First 5000 Years" and if you can wait a few months Stephanie Kelton has an MMT book coming out - she's one of Bernie's financial czars and very good at explaining this poo poo accessibly
