RabidWeasel posted:Brexit isn't popular, at the absolute best about half of the population is pro Brexit and half against. Labour was inherently structurally weak to the brexit issue because of how its seats and voter base were set up. On the other hand, it also means that they've got far less excuses for not getting poo poo done - no more blaiming "Remainer obstruction".

Foxtrot_13 posted:This is why Labour has lost the northern heartlands. asking sincerely: how do you go forward with a socialist platform that is almost perfect for those constituencies but the population is convinced to hold on to the faded luster of empire? as in, brexit fundamentally reads to me as a matter of "the united kingdom is SOOO much better than Europe, they are only dragging us down" which is extremely convenient for a tory perspective

I am going to continue to support Labour. Corbyn's policies were right and good, he was just ahead of his time and the cunts who live in this country were not ready to go for openly progressive policy. I will probably continue to be unable to get any form of PiP. These are thoughts I have. Feelings? I think I am going to loving snap the neck of the next Lib Dem I see. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OvOMyXOy_uk We will get there eventually or we will die. Keep fighting the good fight UKMT. Foxtrot_13 posted:This is why Labour has lost the northern heartlands. The manifesto gave us every reason to think there would be a return of jobs to the north, we built the industrialized world for generations, we would build the energy infrastructure of the future here. But I don't think anyone wanted to listen. Because that legacy isn't real any more, it's a dream, and the tory dream of empire is stronger.

The opportunity cost for people without a vested interest in ignoring those media is too high.

Maybe I was wrong, the entire bar just erupted with them all singing 'ooh Jeremy Corbyn'. It does my black and broken heart good. People have seen that there is an alternative to neoliberalism and fascism, if the Labour party doesn't somehow get pushed massively towards the right this is still going to stay. The tories are going to have to own Brexit for real now, they have zero excuses. Fallen Hamprince posted:https://twitter.com/christopherhope/status/1205280844274900993?s=20 I actually agree with this in some respects, people are loving stupid, the more stuff you say you want to do the more they will think that you're just saying things you won't actually do. Just have a bunch of policies which you plan for and talk about inside the party without necessarily making it a big electoral push. The Tories had the better campaign in this respect, it was rediculously focused on like 3 things, Brexit, more nurses and hospitals (only not really) and more police.
