Anyway, it's going to be funny watching the Beeb slowly realise they've killed themselves by acting as the PR wing of the Tories and getting the licence fee revoked as thanks.

Hey guys, I still stand by my previous point. All of you are inspiring and actual heroes. You stood beside the people of Grenfell, the NHS, the homeless, the disabled, the LGBT+ community, and for the young who will inherit a darker world. We may have lost the battle, but we will eventually win the war. Still, I can't face the news, or Facebook, or any form of social media for the next few days. I don't think I can take it mentally. Don't let them put socialism back in the box like what happened after Michael Foot. Please don't give up.

Where the school teachers have to use their own salaries to buy equipment for the students, or the little boy who cried on Fridays because he had to go home for the weekend, where there was no food and no heating, or the interviews of poverty stricken school children with gaunt faces and listless eyes from these places and not believing this was recorded in western europe. This is who we fight for. Take care and keep fighting. The melts will be coming for our party, resist them and keep fighting.

Like after having just been through a Canada election I'm genuinely surprised to hear an opposition resign literally the second they realised they didn't get the result they hoped for. It only pisses me off that that same man didn't actually win.

Lol, braced myself for smugness from anti-Labour acquaintances on social media this morning, instead the first thing I see is this, from a guy who was a ScotLab conference official/party organizer for several years Would actually have preferred to have seen commentary from the Tory I know who lives in her constituency and organized against her; at least he's loving meant to be her enemy.

I think it's very important to remember that, while a completely understandable thing to think in this moment, variations on "gently caress this country it's full of fash" is a bad belief to have. Because it's what the fash want you to think. They want everyone to think they are the majority, that's how they get their power. But the numbers dont support that. There are certainly far too loving many of them but its not a majority. Just a lovely electoral system. So dont concede that mental space to them. Fight it in yourself and others. Remember there are, quite literally, 10 million people who want what you want. That wasn't enough this time but it ain't nothing either.

For what it's worth RE this thread, it turned me from a 'Green if pressed, otherwise why even bother they're all the same nothing changes lol' moron back when I first started lurking back in 2016-ish to voting Labour for life, and even bothering to vote in those EU elections a while back when before this thread I didn't even know those existed, I was that switched off from politics. Might not have gone how we wanted, but I still have hope that things can get better, because this thread gave me hope even when it insists hope is a lie. You're all good and wonderful.

In terms of triage, if anyone is able to, consider donating to https://feedingfamilies.org.uk/ for a Christmas hamper. It’s not just food, but other essentials that people may not be able to afford over the next few weeks. Other charities will be important to. I hate that children suffer the malice of their feckless elders.

Like idk honestly Andrew Scheer just tried to lead the Tories for weeks after just losing an election in Canada, and then finally resigned weeks later because obviously he's an unelectable prick, so it's refreshing for me when a party leader sits the gently caress down and let's someone else take the reins, instantly. Idk it's nice.
