Though to be fair to the people i'm quoting, there are a lot of loving idiots on the left here in France, including Mélenchon who says in his analysis of Corbyn's defeat that he won't bend the knee to "the CRIF (a French organisation representing Jewish people) communautaristes" (communautaristE is the word for "idpol" in France, usually used by right wingers to demonize Muslims, but sometimes used against Jews, LGBT folks, feminists, basicially anyone that doesn't fit the French perfect model (old white straight males) But that's a French issue, laying it on Corbyn's doors is really loving stupid. It makes sadder that Melenchon is still a loving idiot and Corbyn was so much better than him.

I think if the us left really can take anything away from this it’s that HAVING A BETTER PLATFORM IS NOT ENOUGH. you cannot simply run on “I will be better for your community” and expect to win, that doesn’t work, people do not rationally evaluate party platforms and do not trust politicians, even good ones. you have to do the work on both ends, shaping the party to be better for the people and building class consciousness among the people so they seek out the better party. like this meme: is funny and good but it’s funny because we all know that guy wouldn’t talk like that. but we need him to! thats how we win! so the goal needs to be to create that guy! it’s been done before!
