I’ll believe the Tories becoming a dumber PiS (Poland) when it happens. The Tories are still a party of Thatcherism and they will just double down on trying to turn all Briton into an atomized hellhole. Btw if America goes socialist in the next decade and we get refugees from U.K. any lib dem types should be immediately deported.

They’re all about looting government and promoting banking. No. The power they will retain will be by making parliament smaller. Restricting voting rights. Putting to one side jeremy corbyn's other merits or failings, does anyone really still think that ""Constructive"""" ambiguity on brexit, or whatever stupid name they were calling it, was a good idea? Thinking that people wanted deliberate uncertainty and ambiguity about brexit, the biggest and most important political issue in most living british people's lifetimes, seemed stupid at the time and was a disaster in retrospect. Did anything in labour's platform even get through to most voters, or was it all swept away by people's disgust for corbyn's inane nuh-uh-not-telling brexit 'plan' ? I remember asking a while ago for someone to explain labour's position on brexit and it didnt seem like anyone could. There was some kind of list of bullet points but some of them seemed as fantastical or internally contradictory as the tory ones. It shouldn't be that surprising that in The Brexit Election, Called Specifically To Resolve The Brexit Deadlock, the party of "this is our plan, this is our deal, you already know it, all that is stopping it from getting done is this election, vote for us and the Brexit will be over and done with," beat the party of "lets not talk about brexit it really doesn't matter anyway compared to some other stuff we're really into" / "vote for us to learn our secret plan, and also whether or not we will support our own plan, because whether we will or not is a secret too, and maybe depends on whether we have a special referendum just about our secret plan, maybe?, but vote for us if you want to find out!" Which isnt to say that everything about jeremy corbyn was unelectable and toxic. Maybe in another world where there wasn't a brexit and the election was about some other issues, he might have won. But it is to say that he failed miserably and catastrophically in this world in the actual election, because he ran an appallingly bad campaign for the actual 2019 election. And corbyn's legacy is 5 years of boris loving johnson super-majority. Plus if you don't already just love him, he comes off as a smug idiot. You can tell for sure he's an idiot because he couldn't figure out simple poo poo like "british people really care about brexit." And he's smug because he doesn't care.

Don't think they were calling it anything? The old position was we'll do Brexit without the implied ethnic cleansing. Then the LibDems surged in the EU elections and the PLP got spooked/ saw a chance to get rid of Corbyn and pushed for a Remain position (supported by the membership, because they hate the idea of Brexit). They got it and now everyone dies.

corbyn did not want this. it was forced on him by the membership and his cabinet. he wanted to run on a soft brexit as he had in 2017 the 2019 position was simple. anyone saying it was too complicated was just playing dumb
