That's good praxis, incorporating trees in ZM. I read the cover rules, mentioning shrooms and poo poo being part of cover and poo poo, but nobody ever mixes it up. It's either corridors or GTFO.

What's considered a "good price" to find Betrayal at Calth for on Ebay these days? Would love to pick one up to get 30k going but not sure at what point I'd be better off piece mealing an army Picked up the first 15 or so audio books of the Horus Heresy has me REALLY amped up to try it and my lady at least is interested in painting Edit: Is MK III armour valid for Horus Heresy setting? The contents of the Betrayal at Calth box, purchased separately, are $325, so I’d find the deepest discount you can get on that stuff, and use that as a guideline. I think the cheapest I’m currently seeing if any of the sets is $240 - 250.

I was reading their next article on the Iron Hands, as I found 10 Gorgon Terminators + 20 Medusan Immortals(either breachers or Immortals will make a list at some point and I enjoy both models) + the Contemptor Dreadnaught for a good price and I'm curious.... Why assault marines? Why not Troops + a Rhino? The Rite of War + Terminators makes perfect sense to me(that right seems super popular for a lot of legions) and I'm just trying to understand. I am reading back through the rules and the army list trying to figure this all out Edit: thank you for the response Broken Record Talk!! I'm pricing out piecemeal vs grabbing the box at 250. Lady is trying to decide on a Legion which will help me figure it all out

You can run most legions in a verity of ways. Iron Hands aren't an exception- they have great wargear and overall legion rules. Some good characters and good ROW. Troops in a rhino outflanking thanks to HotG are just one way to go. Going assault vanguard would also work. Really just depends on what you want to do with your army. Their strength is resilience vs shooting attacks, so anything that complements that would be complementing their strengths.

Curious if I'm on the right path in terms of making a Iron Hand army. Why? Because I am so drat torn in terms of what loyalist army to do. My lady is pretty set on Alpha Legion or Thousand Sons but drat if I don't like so many of the models from Forge World. Edit: let's see if this paste properly. You’re close but I’d make a couple changes. If you aren’t going to go for a paragon blade on your praetor you may as well go for a Delegatus to save on points. You can still give him a power weapon, and he has Master of the Legion so he grants access to Rites of War. I’d also try and give your contemptor a gun; unless you’re married to the idea of a punch only robot. A multi-melta or a kheres assault cannon would add a lot of utility, and the remaining fist would give your opponent problems in CC. You could also make him a Cortus and save a few points. And of course i always recommend to load up on combis weapons with your vets.

I think grey slayers are both one of the strongest parts of the SW list and also one of the things that makes them really feel “space wolfy.” I’d consider dropping the praetor and replacing the vets with slayers. Also, sabres are FA, not heavy suppport, just for future reference.

Hixson posted:O so there isn’t any? I thought you were being serious, sorry A contemptor cortus with a fist and a chain fist both with plasma or heavy flamers in them is mean as hell. Especially if you overcharge the cortus for +1 initiative on the charge. I totes agree for downgrading the praetor into something cheaper as the more bodies or threats you can put on the ZM table the better especially when most missions rely on splitting your forces in half at deployment. Combi weapons on vets or seekers is the business! Also anything with scout or infiltration is gold in ZM as mobility is king for objectives.

It should also be noted grey slayers are both fluffy and total monsters in ZM. Also deathsworn are rad as gently caress.
