Just experienced a roller coaster of emotion because of this little fella. Found him sitting on a busy street holding one wing out and generally looking like he’d been hit by a car. Called a local vet knowing he probably wouldn’t be coming back from this but they said to bring him in and they’ll have a look. Went and got a tea towel and a box from a nearby business but when we went to grab him he was suddenly totally fine. Hopped right up, had a good flap and then stood around hoping we’d throw him some scraps.

Birds, especially chickens, are very good at looking at they're dead / distraughted when they're just spacing the gently caress out.

There's a dirt path on the way to the gym and every day there's at least one blackbird lying in the grass with its feathers ruffled looking absolutely ghastly. They'll fly away when I get close to see if they're okay, so I'm assuming they're just sunbathing.

Wouldn't doubt it, sounds kinda like the bird equivalent of when squirrels get hot & go spread eagle, I used to see that all the time in the summer at my old apartment

The blackbirds where I am (Turdus merula) definitely have specific favourite spots for sunbathing; it's especially nice when you see them taking a break during the chaos of springtime babycare - Just all flatout in the sun with their beaks open enjoying the heat

Tony has recently done a dump of more bird photos. I'm not sure if they're new or old, or if I'm reposting or what. They're good photos and I'm gonna go back to doing a one a day bird dump. I mean, look at this awesome birb. He also made a facebook page for his photography. Find it here. Give him your likes.
