in the zones menu designate a large zone on a bunch of grass outside and then set it as a pen/pasture then in the pasture settings menu assign all grazing creatures to that pasture and dorfs will maybe move them out of the meeting hall when they feel like it??? and then they will eat and not starve

also once you breach the caverns moss and stuff will start growing on any soil/clay/sand layers of the fort and then you can set up pastures inside to protect all your animal pals |

yeah every migrant wave brings more grazing animals who want to be friends with everyone and not stand where they can eat so you have to keep checking that menu to make sure lil sebastian doesnt become talk of the town for all the wrong reasons
