my posts are as bad the Current Releases review of Gone Girl

Fat gums trick is that you think he's Blob but actually he's Sebastian Shaw

Also I imagine that with a lot of the pro heroes with esoteric quirks, they initially thought they had much simpler natures until they trained them up to the level they are now - we see a bit of this with Tamaki, who went into UA with a seemingly very limited quirk and didn't really figure out how to make it terrifying until he spent years training it up so be able to express it at its absolute limits, in ways you'd never think he could just judging from his middle school self.

Mirio as well. Intangibility is cool on its own, but working out that going tangible while inside of something essentially teleports you and can be aimed really brings it to the next level. Theres a lot you can do with even simple quirks by taking advantage of the mechanics behind them and high levels of mastery.

What are you talking about? She had an incredibly convenient grey skintight suit on that mysteriously works with her quirk when no other clothing will.

It doesn't have to be mysterious, it's already been shown that people can make clothes that work with their quirk. More human hair costumes!

That makes me wonder, with some of these more obscure quirks, how would you know how they work? Did Fat Gum one day just take a punch to the gut and then lay a guy out? How does Deku not know that maybe he has a useless quirk like the ability to turn molybdenum into pastries.

I’m assuming Snipe’s actual quirk is any ranged projectile can be controlled by him. He uses guns because they’re the most effective at what he does but he probably found out by throwing something as a child. Fatgum seems like something doctor’s would pick up in standard testing just by doing analysis on his fat cells.

In fact I think eating/fat cell quirks is the most common in the series so far. Rikido Sato (Sugar powered super strength), Momo (Creation uses her fat stores as material), Tetsux4 (Eating Iron is implied to improve his metal form), Toga (Drink Blood to become the person), Fatgum (Superfat Which can absorb impacts and energy to then power him up) and Amajiki (Eating things lets him manifest those things as body parts). It seems remarkably common for quirks to have an eating component so I would not be surprised if such things are one of the first checks done when a Quirk is detected in a child but unknown.

The existence of high-profile heroes who are able to keep the details of their quirks secret (like All Might and Nighteye) implies that anyone with a "quirk reading" quirk either doesn't have the ability to read more than the surface level of a quirk's abilities or requires something more than just, like, looking at them or concentrating psychic energy at them or something along those lines to read a quirk.

Well Monoma can copy the quirk of anyone he touches. I'm not sure how much knowledge he gains of the quirks he copies though.

I'm guessing as a dramatic way to show the passage of time. This whole section is narrated by a generic narrator (not Deku) in the manga and basically Mirio fought Overhaul while quirkless for several minutes.

Yeah, I didn't mean to say that it wasn't. I definitely thought it was nice; it was just such a humanizing moment for a character who was introduced as "I love stabbing people to death in alleyways" that it tickled me a little.

And yeah, Lemillion is great. Kinda wonder what things would've been like had he been the MC.

I'm sure the rest of the online discourse will be "Why did Magne have to be the one who got blown up"/why was Magne designed like that, but I like that scene because it served a dual purpose of underscoring that the League is actually a more closeknit organization than Overhaul's despite being mostly comprised of murderous psychopaths and misfits- and underscoring what a gladhandling prick Overhaul is.

Things that are not great: Magne getting fridged.
