You must defeat Sheng Long to stand a chance.

I played through with only 1 point in Phys, and it wasn't much of an issue. You don't take damage that often, and when you do, you just eat a health item. I think I bought a couple extra at the beginning of the game, but I never came close to running out. I think there are some thoughts or clothes(?) that raise your HP too if you're worried about it, I remember having 2 or 3 HP by the end of the game.

(Except when I had to restart the first five minutes of the game two or three times because turning on the light kept killing me and I couldn't figure out why I kept dying.)

Then you have a responsibility that no man has ever faced. You have your fear which could become reality, and you have Godzilla, which is reality.

I'm having an issue where I'm failing some checks, even with critical successes. For example,

In the Tribunal, I get a crit. success with the Authority check to warn Kim, but it still fails.

Are some of these just hardcoded? I've failed about 12 in a row which is really frustrating. For the record,

I finished internalizing the Reality thought that makes you fail all your red checks. Do I have to actually forget it, too?

Hello!
I think one thing I especially like about DE's approach to multiple psyche characters is how it helps you to take a step back and consider the implications of any decision you make.

Like yesterday I managed to pass a rhetoric check to convince an old lady to sign a petition for a new youth center, and just as I was about to turn on the charm, volition stepped in and was all "Do you really want to manipulate an old woman?" And I was like, poo poo, no I don't, I just got so excited about passing a rhetoric check that I didn't think about what exactly was the end game of the rhetoric check I was passing.

That's really cool.

Early on, it's a good idea to quick save before every conversation because the game doesn't auto save very often and as you noticed you can die easily.

Good as dead

I started with 2 Endurance, so luckily I didn't die trying to get my tie down immediately, but the fact that I was on the verge of a heart attack after the first try, meant I had to go seek out drugs to heal myself. And after taking them and trying again, I almost died turning on the light. More drugs. I truly felt like a pathetic drunk when I spent real-life hours trying to get my tie down from the ceiling fan without killing myself, and the sweet success was entirely worth it. This set the mood for Disco Elysium perfectly for me.

The game is very clear that if you want to choose a side, choosing law&order options go straight into us vs the other, racism/sexism. There is no way to say well I want to be fascist but only for the good bits of it not the bad parts

This drives some people nuts, obviously

He's also a Moralist with Communist sympathies. The police in this game are Moralist, not Fascist. They are universally better than actual police, at least in the US. It's funny Kim can call you out for sympathizing with both the moralists and communists when he's doing the same thing.

There's actually no opinion about YOUR government whatsoever. You can learn Revachol is ruled by external countries, but you can't say "we should rule ourselves, BUT every single person in Revachol, man or woman, all races and cultures should get an equal say and standard of living. You can't have a communist uprising against external forces. Or a reactionary one. Or any kind. These things are above your pay grade

What you get are generalities. The important things. What, ultimately, do you believe? There's no good guy authoritarian option for a reason. Authoritarianism does not work. Ultimately, it is a belief that some people are better than others. If that makes you uncomfortable, don't be a fascist. If you believe everyone deserves the same rights, and no one person should have more rights, despite what you might have heard, you are probably a communist.

And this is what bugs me about, "I don't have an opinion" and the actual Moralist options being exactly the same. It's not. There's a difference between "I don't want to do anything to get involved" and "I want to do whatever I can right now to actually help someone." One says "Everything is fine" and the other says "everything is NOT fine, but I can only do so much and choose to focus on what I can reasonably accomplish."(Although, this still gives you a satisfactory "yes" when the shadowy figures are determining who is in on their plot. Because it's a lot more realistic when there are more people involved. Communism.... Requiring ...the people?! The devil you say!)

I do wonder what Kim says if you're split between Fascist and Communist at the end. Or Liberal and Communist. Or just all the splits.

Tried to talk to some children, but they ignored me.

Fortunately, in a gutter there was a book called "A Primer for Small Kids".

Was disappointed to find out that it was not actually a primer for how to interact with small kids.

Not sure why they don't like me, the bearded man in combat boots, track pants, a dress shirt with non-matching tie, and a boom box in one hand and a crowbar in the other.

You can actually save even more than in the video by doing this if you choose the dialogue options that play up your "injury". You can eventually talk him down to just having to pay for the three nights you've already been there, so 60 real total.
