The Responsible Men in the Room will finally stop Trump from doing something massively stupid. This is something I believe based on facts and reason, not because the hellword we live in has turned my brains to goulash.

If Trump nuked something every news agency in the US would fall all over themselves describing how the target totally 100% deserved it. The Republicans would cheer. The Democrats would also describe the target as deserving it but say also that perhaps the strategic aspects of the annihilation of a city weren't fully considered. Six weeks later the Democrats would be voting in lockstep with the Republicans to authorize additional nuclear strikes at the president's discretion.

Reuters pushing the story that Soleimani was plotting to kill US forces in Iraq to distract from the anti-Iran protests. It's only attributed to Reuters staff at the top so nobody's career is hurt when it's disproved. It does have one writer at the bottom though. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-...q-idUSKBN1Z301Z quote:The Revolutionary Guards commander instructed his top ally in Iraq, Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, and other powerful militia leaders to step up attacks on U.S. targets in the country using sophisticated new weapons provided by Iran, two militia commanders and two security sources briefed on the gathering told Reuters. So I guess the US line is that it fell into an Iranian trap? This is all so dumb. All the sources are anonymous. Funnily enough that was published 5 minutes after Reuters came out with a decent length article that does question the US rational for the assassination. It quotes legal experts and UN officials. Compared to the other article with only one reporter, this had six reporters work on it. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-iraq-security-blast-legal-analysis-idUSKBN1Z301R
