Some early rumors about a creator level soccer stadium for around $300. No photos or anything, but it's from the usually spot on leakers.

I also saw an image of the next 12 ideas sets up for approval. I want futurama so bad. and the large steel hulled ship as that's something I've been wanting to do forever but then I had a kid and haven't been in my basement to build in a bout 1.5 years.

My brother has all the modulars, and whenever we see each other and talk about Lego, I ask the same question: why doesn't Lego do a soccer/sports stadium? Make it a series. One set is the goal (similar to that one friends set), with couple of players, coach etc. Other sets connect together for one half of the stadium, and each one adds a bit more to the actual playfield. Buy them all, and you have half a stadium you can showcase or play with. Add packs with players from different teams (maybe license them), put in sticker sheets (ugh) for the big teams, if Lego can snatch the license.

Many modern arenas can adapt to different sports, and no Lego fan would be upset if his soccer arena could turn into a cool hockey rink or whatever. (I know the field sizes are totally different IRL)

It would be a cool theme, imo, and both young and old could be into it.

My brother then always tells me that no one would buy that, and it makes me sad.

It's the same problem as the Saturn V launch tower. Yeah, people would love to buy a soccer field and a bunch of people would probably buy it. But not as many people are going to buy a portion of a stadium because it can't stand on its own.

What they should really do is make a stadium that is also a functional foosball table, or tabletop soccer/hockey game.

The Saturn V launch tower though needs another 1000 parts set, and in and itself would be at least a 2000 parts set (I just built it, and I assume you could reduce it by 60%, so I get to the 2000 parts). It's a MoC, and I can totally understand why Lego would never sell it.

But why not make a sports series? Smaller sets for couple of bucks children can actually play with. One buys the "Bayern München" set, his friend the "FC Chelsea" set and they play some Lego soccer. Now make them fit into some larger sets...I don't know what "Fankurve" is in english...the part behind the goals with the fans....fans corner??? Make a small set out of it, which connects to the other sets, which has some fans, someone who sells hotdogs or bratwurst. Make another set that has the media and VIP people, with the coach and team bench on it...give it some Guardiola or whatever minifig. And it all snaps together to FC Barcelona vs. Real Madrid, or Dortmund vs. Schalke etc. pp.

The cost of the licenses would be pretty high, but I assume it could scratch the same itch as the Lego sets. Playsets for the younger ones, with pretty expensive "UCS" stadium sets for the adult fans.

I know it'll never happen, but my simple mind refuses to believe that it wouldn't work

Agreed. I assumed by the title "Cities in Sections" there would be more, but it's just this one. Hopefully the builder does more! It reminds me of the Batcave set: https://brickset.com/sets/76052-1/Batman-Classic-TV-Series-Batcave. I love that vertical, multi-level diorama style.

Already answered, but Tuo, your posts were kind of hilarious considering that exact thing has been done (minus the big stadium). I don't believe they ever did professional teams (at least in soccer, they did for their NHL/NBA stuff) but there were definitely international teams.

While the line as a whole is mostly forgotten these days, some of the earlier promo stuff for the 1998 FIFA World Cup is quite expensive, and I believe there was a line of polybags exclusive to Japan for the 2002 World Cup that are kind of sought after as well.

Like I really don't care for these dioramas, but I'd be lying if I said I wouldnt at least consider getting it. no wait, they didn't even get the bicycle in the back of the apartment.

Yay another incoming stupid Ideas sitcom diorama.

The only other ones I could see getting made are the Planet Express or the Aquarium, since the Futurama license would probably be easy for them to get from Fox, and the aquarium is the type of thing they like to do with ideas. The typewriter doesn't seem impossible either but very unlikely. Everything else seems like not a chance.

The BOTW stables are neat. I hope Lego manages to end up with the Nintendo license some day.
