Someone who watches TV and doesnt really follow the news, could even be forgiven for thinking Steyer is the only candidate. I have only ever seen ads for him.

Also, Nate Bronze gave Bernie a 67% chance of getting the nomination if he wins Iowa: https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/biden-is-the-front-runner-but-there-is-no-clear-favorite/

Bernie finishing first would obviously be fantastic, but Biden finishing 4th might just be a dagger to his electability myth.

^e: He's got to be focusing in on the jump in "no first choice", unless he's got a set of actual crosstabs. Which I'd kill for.

There are a few interesting notes once you get past the topline numbers.

The biggest: If I'm the Sanders campaign, I'm thrilled with this lead in a poll with only 27% first time caucusgoers (2008 was 57%, 2016 was 42% per NBCNews). Also with the drop under 30% unfavorable for the first time in months.

Those without a first choice nearly doubled to 13%, which I hope is the AnybodyButBiden brigade.

'Uniting the country' was most frequently ranked as extremely important for a candidate, easily outstripping electability, agreeing with their policies, and inspiring first time voters. Inspiring voters did narrowly beat inspiring Republicans, so that's cool. Also nobody gives a gently caress about friend and family preference which makes sense since Iowa seems like a hellscape.

Sanders voters are much more likely to see the candidate's health as an issue (the only one of the top 4 to be negative, though Biden trails Pete and Warren by a bunch). Warren and Sanders rank worst (according to their supporters) on military issues as well.

Finally, I was surprised that Warren had the most supporters who prefer her despite believing another candidate is more likely to beat Trump, while Biden doubles up her and Bernie with voters holding their noses in hopes of the best chance against Trump.

Reading his other tweet, I think he's basically saying that as people's first choices die off, they'll all move to Butt or Biden.

Does anybody think Bernie is going to announce Nina Turner as his VP soon, to make it have an effect on the primary?

Forgot he was CNN now, so he does have the crosstabs, the fucker. Based on the questions they didn't include in the summary but have been putting on the blog (enthusiasm about first choice candidate, mind made up about first choice candidate, candidate voted for in the 2016 primary), the actually interesting pieces aren't public.

It basically is- but he also skipped ahead in the contrarian take cycle. He needed to let the RIP Biden narrative sit for a few days before sending the Actually. Jumping the gun is amateurish.

More on Sanders' support from the Iowa poll:

A near majority (49%) say they are extremely enthusiastic about him. For the other top tier candidates (Joe Biden, Pete Buttigieg and Elizabeth Warren), 32% or less say they are extremely enthusiastic about their choice.

A majority (59%) of Sanders' supporters say their mind is made up on who they are caucusing for. Less than a majority say that for the other top tier candidates.

dem campaigns are generally pretty conscious of this, using exclusively union printers and buying from union vendors whenever possible. even the most conservative of dem candidates do this, so i find it hard to believe it wasn't just a mistake. especially since it is literally a unionized campaign. so ultimately i think the idea that it reflects personally on warren is absurd. if she was made aware of it and then did nothing to correct the issue, that would be different. but it was a couple times at the same location which seems to me like someone hosed up vetting rather than some systemic hostility or whatever toward labor

A friend of mine was volunteering for a dem candidate in a house race. He printed a bunch of flyers at a union shop but forgot to add the critical union bee. He described the next meeting he had with union constituents as "hostile" as in "I barely made it out alive". Mistakes happen all the time but you've got to address them.
