The actual wrestling during the Riho/Statlander match wasn't bad enough to warrant a WMOTY. People expect more from AEW. A stupid loving garbage booking decision souring a match that people were looking forward to seeing and that should've been excellent being considered a WMOTYC is perfectly reasonable, especially since such a match was wasted on furthering a storyline everyone hates. I'm sure parts of the infamous Fiend HIAC match were at the very least passable pro wrestling technically too, but it was the insane booking that made it into the debacle it became.

Not voting on 2019, but if anyone is a fan of Orange Cassidy comedy, you owe yourself to check out the semi-main event from night 3 of BOLA. They do a lot of fun stuff with him and he's the star of the match. The finals is a decent, if overlong, triple threat in front of a tired crowd. Just like it is every year.

From Dragon Gate's Open the New Year Gate at KBS Hall 1/11 HM: Open the Twin Gate Title Decision Block B Block 1st Round Match - Masaaki Mochizuki & GAMMA vs. YAMATO and Ben-K In a match with stakes and this much talent in the ring (and GAMMA), it was bound to be a great match. Kzy/Dragon Dia v. Fuji/Kanda and Hulk/Kazma v. Kai/SMJ were also good matches worth watching, if you're interested in getting a little taste of Dragon Gate before everything kicks of in earnest for 2020 at Korakuen later this week. Sato is a Hashimoto trainee from way back, Iwasaki is going into his 3rd year and is half the age of Sato but that's not stopping him from laying in those forearm shots.
