Thing is about while Kim is a mandatory party member, the optional 'party' members are your skills, complete with piping up when relevant and less so when you put less influence into them.

The setting seems like a cool place to live. Except for the failed communist revolution. Oh and The Nothing from The Never Ending Story being real and consuming the world. And all the racism... uh sweet bugs, though As for Kim's likability, I think a big endearing factor is how chill and goal orientated he is. "I really would have preferred the body to be out of the tree by the time I arrived" is the most chewing out/complaint you get from him, he's all "welp! No time like the present!" Also, he calls you detective, which makes you feel cool. Sankara fucked around with this message at 10:24 on Jan 14, 2020 |

Still reckon you could use this system to make a helluva Batman game, which all the skills being Batman things. And the Batmantypes being whether you're 60s Batman, Frank Miller Batman, or somewhere in between.

Also, Batman having a total identity failure and having to piece himself back together is very fitting for some brands of Batman whether it's from stress or from villains chemistry. Or from someone like Ra'as breaking a not-Batman and trying to remake him into a Batman.

Moon Knight would be an even better fit. In case you're not familiar with the character, he's Marvel's Batman rip-off but he has multiple personality disorder. In a recent series he had hallucinatory Captain America, Wolverine and Spiderman giving running commentary to what was happening.

How do I romance Kim?

Kim is an odd character - he's a straight man to your crazy cop, which in a lot of games would make him the hated character because he's a buzzkill or boring. But Kim also has your back - if someone starts giving you lip because of your drunkcop antics Kim will be there to get your back, the earliest example being with Garte being snippy with Harry about everything, and Kim getting him to cool his jets because they are still the police I think it also helps that he's shown to have his own quirks though - in a normal CRPG being a straight man would be his sole characteristic - whereas here we find out that Kim loves motor cars and making fun of magic racists and the fact that these moments of insight are rare make us feel like we're getting to know Kim properly. It also helps that Kim consistently takes care of us - when we pass out from seeing the letter in the ledger, Kim takes us to his car and gets us water, when we get shot by the Tribunal he personally takes care of us to stop infection, etc

And you could have a lot of fun with Batman's rogues gallery as contrasts.

That’s only because the coalition makes that area that way on purpose. The outside world has semi autos. It’s basically a joke what resources the RCM has. I can’t think of a real world example though because The US, and Russia love to sell guns to everyone. So there’s no gun starved area in the real world where cops are using muzzle loaders. The Uk ditched guns but that was a choice. So IDK

Is there a way to capture evidence of the Dread Moose and report back to Morell, or does it always just run away after it eats the cat? I didn't see a skill check so was wondering.

From what I can tell. there are three Asian-analogous characters: Kim, Siileng, and the Washerwoman. I was surprised to hear the Washerwoman singing a Malay/Indonesian lullaby from my childhood. They're all voiced by gaijin, gweilos, and bules, though. But Kim's voice actor is so good that I'm going to nominate him for honorary Asian at the next Pan-Asian Co-Prosperity Conference.

Then a giant-rear end moose attacked and ate the cat, the dialog prompt gave me the option to chase, and I chose "chase" but it leapt away and disappeared.

So what's the resolution to the hole in the world? We figure out that it's a part of the pale and that it's probably a sign that the literal end of the world is getting close. We also come up with a theory that it's why so many things have failed here, that it's this ball of entropy causing the revolution to fail as well as the doomed commercial center. That's as far as I got that plot to go, but I read a post earlier that implied you might find out a way to save Ravenchol? DarkAvenger211 fucked around with this message at 20:38 on Jan 14, 2020 |

It's not resolved per se, but if you help the kids start up a successful club in the church, the theory is that it will help slow the expansion of the Pale from the hole. That's the reason the church was built in the first place, surrounding it with sound and positive emotion is thought to counteract the absolute nothingness of the Pale. You have to help Egg Head get his music sounding really good, and convince the raver kids to not turn the church into a meth lab.

TommyGun85 posted:I cant find the karaoke song anywhere. What skill do you need to find it? You can get it by Wednesday, not sure if you need any skills or pass a check to find it, you just have to talk to Lena and tell her you'll find Morell, or check out the area behind the pawn shop and examine the broken water way thing. There's a tape that's easy to find if you look around the area immediately across the bridge at all. Although when I sang it my ancient reptilian brain sang it, but I've seen a video where your limbic system can sing it? Also, as a weirdo who likes to record poo poo with contact mics and make field recordings to use in my Anodic disco tracks (or whatever you wanna call them, man), that little conversation you have with the girl who's freezing outside recording stuff with the contact microphone on the ice is really dope. I think it only happens if you pass a white, maybe even a red check and I had a kind of low chance of passing, but she starts to tel herself how stupid it is what she's doing, but Harry's like 'you see this?' *points to tape recorder and microphone* 'You can do *anything* with this', or something a lot less cheesy and tells her that it's really cool what she's doing, which encourages her and convinces her that it is indeed cool and she shouldn't give up. It was absolutely heartwarming and in a game I could already relate to more than any other game with a choice based dialogue system that results in different outcomes, it was extremely cool and felt like an actual personal moment between me and an NPC. imhotep fucked around with this message at 21:58 on Jan 14, 2020 |

Yeah, maybe it was some check that I wasn't aware of, although it probably wasn't perception as mine's awful. Where do you find him, in that general area? I say it's easy to find because I haven't fully explored it and found the tape (which is called like, 'The Smallest Church in something', but it was under a house, or at least somewhere around where the two women are that Evrart asks you to find and sign the papers for the youth center) but it's right around the entrance to the fishing village. I feel like an absolute scumbag, I convinced that older woman to sign the papers Evrart asked me to.. imhotep fucked around with this message at 22:04 on Jan 14, 2020 |

TBF, Evrart isn't exactly evil, he's supremely utilitarian. He's the labor boss equivalent of the practical incarnation. How much of the past do you have to give up for the future? It's a really hefty example of forcing you to question where your convictions fall along the material outcome/reasoned imperative divide. Game's good, yo. Evrart forcing your hand by baiting you with your gun and the outcome probably being totally nullified by the pale anyway are also really good folds to the question
