I don't really think of Ritalin/methylphenidate is a recreational drug tbh and it's weird that it's schedule 8 when valium and codeine are schedule 4. It's a pretty good medication imo. The thing with ADHD meds is some people get super good results with minimal side effects from methylphenidate and others get that from amphetamines and there's no rhyme or reason as to why, just a thing that happens.

YouTube prankster in court for driving car filled with water to Adelaide bottle shop

An Adelaide social media prankster who drove a car filled with water to a local bottle shop has faced court for the first time over the stunt.

Michael Alexander Philippou, who runs the popular RackaRacka YouTube channel along with identical twin brother Danny, today faced the Christies Beach Magistrates Court charged with numerous driving offences.

...

It shows Mr Philippou driving the vehicle, with fellow prankster Jackson O'Doherty, while wearing breathing apparatus.

The leaking Ford Laser eventually pulls up at a bottle shop where the men order beers and then drink them while submerged.

Mr Philippou was later charged with offences including driving in a reckless or dangerous manner, driving an unregistered vehicle and failing to wear a seatbelt.

...

Mr Philippou said friends and family had "come to see me off because I'll probably be going to jail".

I don't find it to be fun on its own as I mentioned. I do not even feel dex at all unless I smoke weed too, then it's like, the best thing.

I've tried IR and LA ritalin for 3 repeats each and the results were the same. Felt like a pinger that never quite peaked, made me sweaty and totally exhausted by end of the day.

Dex I take 10mg a day and don't feel anything.

Sounds like your dex dose is low?

I came to the conclusion that most of the side effects of methylphenidate seem to happen when the amount of it in your bloodstream rises or falls too quickly. I eventually settled on Concerta (slow release methylphenidate), which I don't get side effects from. They seem to have the one patent for SR that keeps blood levels pretty stable throughout the day. Instant release often gave me moments of anxiety or I'd hyperfocus on low-priority tasks and Ritalin brand slow release also sucks. Just putting this out there for anyone who is on ritalin and gets random moments of that

That was my experience on both IR and LA (long acting/ slow release) Ritalin. The LA variant was just slightly less peaky, but lasted all day. So the days it worked were OK but the days it didn't was 6-8 hours of anxiety.

My script for dex is 2 or 3 tabs as needed because my doc wanted me to have a buffer in case I couldn't get scripts on time. He also correctly assumed I would use it as a tool rather than medication and that it might be that some days I take (way) more and some less.

I'm on it for adhd or as I call it internet induced focus disorder. Probably comorbidity with depression but that seems under control now even off meds for a few weeks.

Weed and dex is faaaantastic. It's hard to explain but I take like 4-6 5mg dex tabs and have a vape and it's the best poo poo. No hang over, no come down, just euphoric as gently caress, music sounds and feels amazing and I don't nod off like weed alone.

I'm super into riffy stoner doom metal and I'm yet to find a better combo for that kind of music. I get totally lost in the music at a live concert, like a huge wave of fuzzy oscilloscopes crashing through my body. It's second amazing.

Saw a psych for the first time in a while. Said that they have never prescribed a stimulant to a 30-something, gave me a script for an anti-depressant and left it to me if I wanted to reschedule an appointment. This was after going through my history of taking a heap of different anti-depressants that did nothing, and taking a stimulant that did quite a bit. That and a few other awkward things, and I'am sensing that I will not be seeing this psych for long. Which is a shame since It has taken me forever to organise seeing one who can bulk bill me.

See if there are any ADHD specialist psychs you can get referred to for an opinion. My general psych was hella gun-shy with stims until he had an experienced colleague give guidance. Many Adult psychs don’t have that much experience in starting and initial titration of stimulant treatment. Most ADHD is diagnosed during childhood / adolescence so the work of finding the right drug / dose has already been done by the time care is transferred to them.

Having the opportunity to find the right agent is super important. On SNRIs and Ritalin I could only pass 50% of my courses. On Nortryptyline I passed a diploma. On Dex I’m maintaining a distinction average while doing bachelor level studies and working 0.8 FTE.

this. I got diagnosed w/ ADHD at 31. went to my GP and told them my partner thought I had it because i kept forgetting poo poo, referred me to a psych. he asked me to do a questionnaire at home, and to come back with it completed in a week and bring in my school report cards if I had any.

anyway yeah it was plain as day based on my report cards. 'so much potential/needs to apply himself/pay attention' buuuuuut ADHD was 'bad kids who end up on ACA with tracy Grimshaw' so theres presumably a lot of smart, shy kids out there like I was that grew up undiagnosed and untreated.

so I grew up mostly hating myself for feeling like I could never achieve anything despite everyone around me telling me i could, and rolled in with normal school bullying it grew into depression.

I got treated for depression through my 20s and while the meds kinda worked they didnt do poo poo for my lack of focus. eventually the ADHD thing happened, and here i am.
