If the Titans D can hold Lamar in check they can do the same to Mahomes

Mahomes is a much better passer and the Chiefs have WAY better receivers not to mention the best receiving tight end.

Kawalimus posted:They were not good. Getting blown off the line and henry running all over them. Beat badly on the second TD. Carr letting the receiver do a circus catch on the first TD and not disrupting the play in any way. No pass rush. I agree, Lamar had very good numbers despite the turnovers but a lot of that was playing from behind and throwing it 50 times, exactly what they didn't want to do. The way the Ravens defense folded against Henry and the Titans was a surprise, I thought they had a little more juice. Although a lot of their juice came from blitzing which notably didn't work that well against the Titans I just hope Titans/Chiefs is a good game, no expectations beyond that. If the Titans do beat the Chiefs it will be from riding Henry super hard just like the last couple games, with Tanny making the big play action throws when they matter

Better Than You posted:I'll quote the above when the Chiefs get shutout I'm not saying they'll win, it's just that the Chiefs offense is an entirely different beast than the Ravens. You can't expect this game to play out the same way. I mean the Ravens had never really been behind in a game. How many times have we seen the Mahomes Chiefs get behind and come roaring back to score a zillion points? Many times, including literally just last week. This game is going to be much different.

Most likely losing scenario for Chiefs: Down seven with four minutes to go, no timeouts left, they get the ball and score quickly leaving over two and a half minutes on the clock. Titans methodically march down field with a couple of nice runs and one big pass from Tannehill into easy field goal range. Then they milk the clock and kick the game winning FG.

This sounds good but the Titans haven't kicked a FG in like 2 months or something. The kicker has never attempted a kick in the NFL before.

The Titans will need to play with a lead. If they go down at any point it's going to make things very hard on them.

Although a lot of their juice came from blitzing which notably didn't work that well against the Titans You look at a game like the Houston game from this year the Ravens played. We started off very flat. Missed a FG, failed on a 4th. We didn't turn it over but were similarly clumsy and sputtery. But the defense in that game was lights out(and assisted by a missed PI against Hopkins but w/e). And then bam in the second quarter we got our poo poo together and the landslide began. That was Judon's best game of his career.

I forgot that the Ravens beat the poo poo out of the Texans in the regular season. In hindsight, we should have seen Houston choking away a 24-point lead in the first quarter from a mile away.

Andy Reid has coached like 20+ playoff games, and do you know how many of them have been truly unprecedently bizarre in some way or another? All of them. No one has a clue what is going to happen when the Tennessee Titans play the Kansas City Andy Reids except that it will be loving weird

Mahomes is probably just gonna pass for 10 more TDs in the next two games like its nothing because he's just stupidly unfair and that's just what he does every other week it seems. And I'm the cranky bastard that hates it and wishes he was just a "normal" good QB which alone is something more than half the league wishes they had.

I mean yeah the most likely outcome is Mahomes dunks on everyone and KC runs away with it. But between Playoff Andy Reid, the Titans miraculous run of destiny, and the fact that they did win the regular season matchup I don’t feel like it’s a lock by any means. These playoffs have been wild, the likely thing didn’t happen in most of the games. I’m fine with either outcome. But at this point I’m just rooting for chaos and comedy so gently caress it, Tits up

The most boring of takes is probably mine, Titans need every aspect of their game to be perfect to win. 2 turnover differential in our favor, Henry at 150+ yards, Tannehill 150+ yards. But we are loving hot right now so gently caress it - it's happening!

You're not far off really but Tannehill only threw for 72 and 88 yards in the first two games, so I don't think he needs anywhere near 150. The Titans have benefitted from both games unfolding exactly as they wanted them to and then they just never blinked. Super impressive both times, but I could see poo poo happening early and them never really having a shot... just as much as I could see another 60 minute dominant performance. Who knows. Tennesse had 300 yards against the Ravens and only held the ball for 27:54... but the big difference really was seven "turnovers" by Baltimore, if you count the 0–4 on fourth down. (I guess the seventh was basically garbage time but still) edit: also seven drops! Man. Truly just worst case scenario for Baltimore. I'm sorry Kawalimus
