my latest pop queen Hailey Kiyoko released a new song but more interesting is this really good remix of my favorite song of hers https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kBJEqIt5FGg which got me to thinking, what are some of the best pop remixes? I feel like a lot of them (honestly even the one i just posted above) just go through and make the beat about 15% more club-ready and leave it at that, but I really love the ones that either go hard on the dance mix or totally flip the song on its head and actually manage to improve it. i am happy to report that our girl Kesha is still the best swear-er in pop music edit: more complete first thoughts: the amount of fun she had making this album is very evident on pretty much every track. It's really fun when it's trying to be and towards the end when it goes a little sappy it still nails what it's going for. It might not be quite as good as Rainbow, but I love love love Kesha as a full-on rock star and there's not nearly enough electric guitar on this album for my taste, although it is nice to get a bit of a return to OG Kesha (although ironically the song that has a "feat. Ke$ha" credit is not the most old-school Ke$ha song on there, which is probably Tonight. The first half is pretty much all killer no filler, up through Resentment (although i'm not the hugest fan of My Own Dance), the back half gets a little long in the tooth but there's still a lot to love. The new Kesha album mainly sucks rear end compared to Rainbow. It feels more like a mid poplife crisis with the needlessly over injected style from her earlier days. I’ll probably only come back for Kinky, Cowboy Blues and Father Daughter Dance. The mastering is awful, too.
