ASK ME ABOUT LUMBER

it must be said, at least some of you lot try to resist. this sort of poo poo just sort of goes through to ineffectual grumbling most other western nations

re the strike, my understanding is that it's not necessarily about the idea of reforming pensions in and of itself, but rather the unilateralist approach and a more general revolt against managerial neoliberalism? I.e. macron is trying to just take away something that's been won through activism and organisation and that's why everyone (including the yellow unions) is so royally pissed off - is this a reasonable handle?

Pretty much. The other side likes to portray us as short-sighted idiots who always refuse painful but necessary reforms but the truth is that every reform proposed by these neoliberal assholes in the past ~30 years have all been about cutting public spending, destroying the public sector and loving over the poor.

well, yeah the LREM will do jack poo poo in terms of numbers outside of big cities

I'm not sure I fully grasp the full impact of the decree yet, but basically I think it means

Small rear end towns (below 9000 people) will not have their local election results added to the national result (for propaganda purposes).

AND

Small rear end towns results won't show political affiliation: so you look at the results of small town 1454: you won't be able to tell right away if the LREM candidate got only 3 votes, he'll just be non-affiliated on the result list, like all other candidates
