Frosted Flake posted:Pajiba Bends The Knee what in the world quote:I think having the writers make a case for "their" candidate is a great thing to do, but the headline on this is just egregious. In a primary voting context, the goal of a series like this should be to lay out information about a candidate's positions, acknowledge their flaws, and let the readers decide who they want to vote for as their preferred candidate from a more informed place, even if it's showing clear partiality. The hyperbole of "Only Bernie Can Win This Thing" is typical of Petr, so a mindful editorial eye on the headlines for these as they go up would be appreciated.

I would love to hear someone explain why anything here matters in the least, outside of Rules in case of a contested convention. Has the official party platform ever changed what any single person has done when in office?

Lol, they are going to ratfuck Bernie so bad. Everyone here is familiar with Barney Frank's stance on Bernie. But let me present you with the OTHER co-chair of the rules committee: https://twitter.com/MariaTCardona/status/730050144285007873 https://twitter.com/MariaTCardona/status/724999547114639360 https://twitter.com/MariaTCardona/status/727208233694298112 Of the co-chairs of the rules committee, 1 has endorsed Biden and 1 Bloomberg. The other 2 haven't endorsed anyone. If this is anywhere close to a contested convention, they will gently caress over Bernie.

If you would like to help me resolve this issue - this is Mitch McConnell's phone number. Please call him repeatedly and maybe he can be a better sport about helping us have a functioning government."

I think I really should log off. I read the second book of Southern Reach recently and couldn't help but see the protagonist as Mayo Pete, the whitest of libs. CIA, got his job through nepotism, thinks about his CV all the time, the main question he has when looking at a college is if they are moving up in their career and spends most of the novel in a losing office politics decorum fight. I'm cheering for the breathing walls.

Harrow posted:Is there anything they can do if it isn't a contested convention? In terms of preventing Bernie from winning? No. But they control everything from the agenda of the convention to amendments to the party charter and nominations to DNC offices. In other words, if they want to change back the superdelegate rule, etc. they can. Like, the whole thing in 2008 where they decided to strip Florida and Michigan of delegates because of the date of their primaries was reversed by the rules committee (in that case, because Obama asked them to and there was enough of a difference that it wouldn't have mattered, so it was symbolic, but theoretically they could have done the same even in a scenario where they'd flip the whole thing to Hillary). More importantly, I doubt that they would be this blatant if they had no intention of using it to ratfuck if not Sanders, at least the progressive wing of the party.
