Gotta be hip with the social media kids.

My biggest annoyance is that they buried the new articles too far down on the site for a quick glance. Also still no dedicated section for rumor engines so you can actually get an overview of what's been revealed and what hasn't.

Ok, I’m still a noob trying to get my head around my own Ork Codex, what am I looking at. A bunch of specialised single models and terrain pieces with rules of some kind? Is this good, bad or just super weird?

It is not good. It's a bunch of assassins and some fortifications. Not to say that assassins are bad. They're designed for sniping characters. Between them and the fortifications, you have an army that doesn't really do a whole lot. It's just a goofy list that someone had fun tossing in just to see people's reactions.

I think that even the older fluff had stuff like agriworlds where you were not subject to unending war and grinder-like battles, just tasked with supplying food and stuff to the legions that were stuck doing that, as well as the forge worlds making them guns and tanks. Although even those worlds are subject to the paranoia and violence of the imperial cult so you can always get burned as a witch or have your village sentenced en masse to a penal legion for thought crimes.

The Imperium has like a million worlds, there's basically like any world you could imagine. Loads of people live relatively comfortable lives.

Especially space marine worlds which dont have to pay tithes. And Some worlds are backwater enough and low on produced resources that they really dont have to pay a lot to the imperium. Not every planet is a hellish cyberpunk of Necromunda or the bombed out wasteland of Armageddon. Some are nice little worlds where people just work day to day, perhaps even happily.

If I fall, you don't get the head, right? If you lose the head, you're fucked!

I need some Emperor's Children list advice for my army. I read the Goonhammer post about Faith and Fury regarding EC, and I'm undecided on how to run my demon prince. I tried running my chaos slam Lord with the raiment repulsive, and made my prince my warlord with loathesome grace and the armor of abhorrence. The demon prince is a lot squishier than I thought it would be.

Should I make the slam Lord the warlord and give the prince the rapacious talons? Or just save the extra cp? Should I grab a box of warp talons for a better screen than the prince with the armor relic? Not taking overwatch seems too good to pass up.

I don't have a whole lot of models, but I want to make the most of what I have. I have two lists and one has the slam Lord and dark Apostle, the other has a regular chaos Lord and the slam Lord.

The rest consists of 10 Noise Marines, 6 oblits, Leviathan dread, demon prince, land raider, 2 Sonic dreads, and a handful of cultists to fill out the batallion. I plan getting more noise marines soon as well to maybe take the place of some of those cultists. Is there some cool synergies I'm missing? Or a better way to run this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The story beats are fine so far, even if they feel a little over the top, like everything is the biggest thing ever, and everyone is the most powerful ever, etc. I don't hate his prose either, but the dialogue reads more like an awful 80ties teen movie than a 40k novel. I'm literally cringing half the time, and I almost expect the sekhmet members to start talking about how those sisters of silence totally has great bazoongas and if they should ask them out to the roller disco and how cool their new digs are. Even the primarchs chatting is like one-liner style "I'd totally kill you!", "Oh yeah?! Says who?", "Me, I'm the one who says it", "I see!" (dramatic pause). I guess I've been spoiled by only really reading abnett so far. I really don't understand how it's so highly rated.

I cannot stress enough how good noise marines and the dark apostle are with excruciating frequencies. I run my smash Lord with the armour of Abhorrence and loathsome grace (host raptorial optional but nice. You already rr charges)- he acts as an overwatch denier for the other unit I want to get in (which I use honour the prince on) - in my case, terminators. If I line it up right the terminators and the noise marines are both in range of the dark apostle for shooting.

Warp Talons and honour the prince are tasty.

Demon support for CP (EC absolutely eat CP) and the contorted epitome is nice (+1 strength for the warp talons is a nice little bonus).

Mainly using him to soak overwatch then follow up with the Lord. So kind of by himself? I'll have him behind either the land raider, or whatever unit is furthest forward, then on my turn, charge him then charge in the Lord.

I'm just not sure if it would be better for him to take the rapacious talons with a screen unit like raptors, or run him with the armor and have the Lord back him up.

There was a batrep I saw on YouTube a while ago using a mission called Convoy, which was basically one team starts at one end of the table and has to defend a vehicle while the other team tries to stop them. I don’t know the RPG at all and am only vaguely familiar with Kill Team.

When I mentioned the idea on Facebook somebody came up with an idea for Tari’s abilities and stats.

M 6"
WS 5+
BS 5+
S 2
T 2
W 2
A 1
L 8
Sv 6+
Weapons thunder hammer
2x -3 3. -1 to hit

Abilities
Failed attacks trigger abilities on a D6
1-2 erratic stumble, +3 sv
3 Was that your gun? -2 to opponents hit rolls
4 Sorry! Target takes 1 mw and cannot fight back
5 I can't stop! Weapon generates an additional attack and grants erratic stumble. Can chain
6 Oops! Target takes 2D3 mortal wounds

Small Target: -2 to hit rolls against this model

Non-threatening: model cannot be targeted by attacks that circumvent normal Character Targeting rules

You made Tari cry!!!: If this model loses its last wound in melee all Space Marine Characters are able to Heroically Intervene, regardless of distance, as if it were the Charge Phase, even if they have already fought this turn.

Mascot: +1 Ld within 12"

I personally would consider changing one of the abilities to something like this:
You gave her a gun!: Tari fires upon the nearest enemy model, roll 1d3 to choose between: 1) Bolt Pistol, 2) Bolt rifle, 3) Heavy Bolter.

Raptors will keep up with him, but having him tag along by a raider then dropping in Warp talons to all out deny overwatch may be more up your alley. You can even drop in a lord with jump pack with them.

Talons with an elixir on a prince nets him a ton of attacks at str 8 with t7. The deamon talins will give more attacks depending on the d6 but at less str an toughness.

Warp talons rule pretty much can't go wrong with them.

I was running the prince with loathesome grace and diabolic strength, with just malefic talons and he ends up being s10 with 9 attacks (not including dttfe) at -2ap flat 2 damage rerolling 1's.

S10 hits T5 on 2's which is nice, but when it comes to storm shields they really eat up attacks, and he kind of falls flat. I'm thinking warp talons and the demon weapon would just increase the number of attacks and hopefully get more in past the save. Does that make sense, or am I just seeing things that look good on paper?

Edit: also, do you think it would be worth it to make them Host Raptorial? Viscous Descent would give them rerolls on hits, but the prince would give them reroll 1's anyways.

Everyone needs to sort of view it as a social hang out rather than a serious game.

I also don't know about current apocalypse rules but the old ones encouraged you to basically not wait for a specific person owning a model to be paying attention to roll. Just find someone on the other team and roll with them watching up until they need to make a save/decision.

You also need to all actually know the apocalypse rules really really well.

If you've made the game as quick as you can do minimising waiting for one guy to roll all the dice for his stuff, and not looking up rules every 5 minutes, it is what it is and you'll either enjoy it or you won't.

In the club I used to be in we did a crazy apocalypse game in 5e where it was like 15,000 points a side and the two 6x4 tables we pushed together were literally packed with models to the point there was no room for anything else.

It's a bit of a spectacle rather than a wargame at that level, but maybe 6,000 a side isn't too bad, particularly if there are some super expensive models on the board like Knights, baneblades etc
