another good pandemic media is The Hot Zone, though it's about Ebola in the 80s I think. it shows a lot of the lab work involved in dealing with viruses

My supervisor had the flu over the weekend - he was off sick Thursday, Friday, and Monday - apparently ended up in the hospital on Sunday evening from coughing so hard that blood was coming up. He's back at work today.... - "I'm not good at staying home, I get bored, and the worst of it is over anyway." My other supervisor is currently off too with presumably the same thing that the first supervisor has spread around. This is in the UK, so it's probably just normal flu and not WuFlu, and I'm not back in that office until Thursday, but the fucker should have stayed home. Seriously considering asking if I can work remote until next week instead of going in Thursday.

Half the money will be given to Chinese groups to help them in containment efforts. The other half will be given to the African Center for Disease Control to fund its efforts to help African countries prepare to have to cope with the new infection.
