Has Sanders talked about the antibiotic problem before? A couple of months ago I remember talking to someone about the election and mentioned how I don't really like any of the Dem candidates for various reasons but if one would mention antibiotics research as a serious issue (and hey maybe even a policy proposal!) I'd probably support them on that alone.

I suppose when health care is such a disaster and no one can afford it and everything sucks talking about antibiotic research when asked about health care generally in a debate or whatever would come off as pretty out of touch.

Probably the flight crew on the plane and poo poo.

I'm going to toss in a recommendation for Biohazard by Ken Alibek. Shocking read for sure. That one's on my bookshelf and I might pick it up again.

Maybe don't read it if you don't want to think about the bio lab in Wuhan

"Felt fine for work" means "I am sick but these dayquil tablets can suppress the symptoms long enough for a full day of work" like it does for nearly everyone who lives under capitalism

Fun Shoe
My supervisor had the flu over the weekend - he was off sick Thursday, Friday, and Monday - apparently ended up in the hospital on Sunday evening from coughing so hard that blood was coming up. He's back at work today.... - "I'm not good at staying home, I get bored, and the worst of it is over anyway." My other supervisor is currently off too with presumably the same thing that the first supervisor has spread around.

This is in the UK, so it's probably just normal flu and not WuFlu, and I'm not back in that office until Thursday, but the fucker should have stayed home. Seriously considering asking if I can work remote until next week instead of going in Thursday.

This is pretty cool though

quote:

The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation announced Sunday it is donating $10 million to the response to the virus. Half the money will be given to Chinese groups to help them in containment efforts. The other half will be given to the African Center for Disease Control to fund its efforts to help African countries prepare to have to cope with the new infection.
