My friend asked Eric on Twitter if Blame It On Outer Space was ever coming back and I responded that no, Eric said that it was done for good because not enough people were listening. Then Eric replied that he's gonna re-release episodes when he finds the time and possibly make it into a video show :aaaaa:

I called in and recommended Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters. I actually love this movie, but I think it's the right amount of dumb for them to review. Plus that other Hansel and Gretel movie is coming out soon.

Just as a heads up, I highly recommend watching Once Upon a Time in Hollywood before listening to their WLM episode on it. I listened to the first half hour and wasn't really enjoying it or even following it. So I stopped, watched the movie, and now the podcast is 10 times better understanding the quick references or visual comments they make.

Yes but Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is not a good movie so maybe don't waste your time.

Just chiming in to say that I haven't laughed at anything in a very long time as I was laughing at "President Nerd" and I haven't seen a single one of those movies. Good christ.

WLM is one of the cases where I appreciate the 10 year rule. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is on my watch list but I never have time for movies and that runtime is intimidating. A lot of the on-screens are genre schlock that I don't really care about spoilers for, but I straight up skipped this one because I haven't seen the movie yet. It's a lot of fun to hear them discuss a contemporary movie if you've seen it but I'm glad they don't regularly cover new releases because I'd wind up skipping a lot of episodes.

I like the ten year rule, it allows movies I haven't watched more time to be absorbed through cultural osmosis. I can appreciate episodes on a certain level despite not having seen the movies in question.

It's also a fun light into what dumb ideas were hot ten years ago.

It’s fine but the constantly break it anyways and maybe a 2 year rule would be better.

Nah, 10 years is good enough to let a movie air out and become truly bad. The forgettable bad movies become forgotten by the 10 year mark, while the really bad fester.

I appreciate the 10 year rule too, but I wish they'd go back and do some 80's schlock again once in a while.

Then they shouldn’t have a whole month dedicated to the past year. Nobody will give a poo poo about Yesterday in 6 months.

This is why the 300 episode was so good is that enough time had passed so that their perspective on what that movie meant for culture then and going forward was 20/20.

Exactly.

When 300 came out I was like....19 and really stupid. Years later, its trash and reflecting on why I thought it was good and why it aged so poorly (and so quickly) was fun

I always assumed the ten year rule existed because their day jobs are, at minimum, industry adjacent and they probably still had broader prospects when they started the podcast.

I think theres a nice balance between old trash and a month for new stuff. It allows them to be contemporary enough while still having their own identity compared to stuff like RLM and HDTGM.

My favorite episodes are stuff like The Butterfly Effect. Mainstream movies that were dumb to begin with and kind of forgotten, but seen through a lens of 10+ years.

I was really dubious that 4 randos could make a funny movie podcast but Entourage was the first or second episode I listened to and I was sold. drat that’s a top 5 ep for me
