What really troubles me is the overwhelming pride they have about spending that kind of money. There's a few people joking about how absurd it is, but most of them are congratulating and welcoming the poster. CIG doesn't need to do much to foster the cult mentality, they're generating it themselves.

What is funniest is how they name their high tier backers after a low level position for a hotel employee.

Also from the wikipedia description: The concept has been applied more generally to other hospitality settings and to personal concierges who manage the errands of private clients.

Look I'm not here to defend my husband but I wouldn't support something if I felt it wasn't a great thing no matter who it was, including my husband. I am one of the best saleswomen in the world without a shadow of a doubt and always have been since I was a very small girl and I know a great product when I see it. What I have seen this year is a vocal minority of people who get butt-hurt that they are not a special snowflake anymore and butt hurt their opinion isn't well received so they shout louder or find someone who agrees with them to try to validate their opinion. It is also interesting as a female as I receive quite a significant amount of harassment and abuse for no good reason other than being female. Used to happen a lot more earlier this year, thank god that's changed.

And I think there is enough of the game out and its being optimized. I see a lot of games and try them and I am just plain and simply Bored. For $45 we are a steal! There's plenty to do for that amount and tell me which game out there in the world hasn't been late??? You want a s**** game or do you want to wait? Thing is companies aren't showing it as they go. If GTAV had been open development or Fallout 4 or Witcher 3 people probably would have been doing the same thing they are to us and they've certainly taken more than 3 years for their game! Everyone voted for more, no-one wanted a $10Million game. That doesn't buy you much. There aren't more talented people out there for the CryEngine - we have the best. Want to ask the German team or Paul Reindell or Mark Abent or Sean Tracy or a genius at CryEngine what they think of Chris' coding? He re-wrote a bunch of the code to make it do what it does now that hasn't been done before! Like I said, I am one of the best in the world at what I do and I know something great when I see it. The pupil to planet video is absolutely mind-blowing and I haven't seen any other game out there that appeals to me more than that did when I saw it. 2.0 as the bugs are fixed is also amazing and I've had more fun playing that than I've ever had playing Elite.

I am overwhelmed with both  and :sigh:

Chris is a moron who hasn't done serious coding in decades and definitely hasn't re-written CryEngine to do a bunch of stuff it hasn't before.

A) He made demands of other engineers who did the coding

B) Everything, literally everything SC does was done 5 years before. Just because it didn't materialize into a successful game doesn't mean the tech isn't old hat.

C) The Irony of "I know something great when I see it" (its not great and she wouldn't, she doesn't know enough about game architecture to know the difference)

"SC is not pay2win. It is pay4fun"

:reddit: There are reasonable arguments that there is nothing to "win". Its all about the experience, the big sandbox adventure.

Later in the game you will loose against people that spend either more time or more money into the game than you. I'm totally fine with that.

:reddit: In time (after launch), I suspect the P2W/P4F (as you put it) gap will mostly close but as it stands now I see no reason to handicap CIG’s ability to find continued development.
