The bad opinion is what-abouting from what Lacey Evans is doing currently to a New Japan angle from 2013 because Vincels meltdown and always go into whataboutism whenever one of their favorite Superstars gets criticized

They also did this about the Saudi Arabia deal with New Japan working with North Korea in 1994. That’s bad but it shouldn’t be used as deflection to avoid discussing or criticizing things that are happening RIGHT NOW.

Edited my post, that might have been who I was thinking of. I know very little of WWE/WCW history and even less about any of the Japanese promotions. I got back into wrestling from a goon posting a link to AEW Dark after previously having watched Smackdown on TV before I even had broadband internet. Most of the stuff people talk about in these threads ends up being vague memories attached to things I do know the meaning of, which ends up being pretty AEW-centric because that's the only thing I consistently watch. Although I picked up a fite.tv subscription so I don't have to deal with commercials for Dynamite, so maybe I'll start watching more Indies.

New Japan is probably the best promotion in the world right now and you should do yourself a favor and check it out.

If you want to check out more indies and have $10 to spare each month, IWTV.live is also well worth the cost. They typically live stream at least one show a week, with some weekends having 2 or 3 live shows. Their back catalog is also huge and filled with a ton of different promotions.

And, as has been mentioned, NJPW Is the best.

Seems as though everyone is now a wall street professional today. Nice to know that you all went out and switched your degrees from “statistical ratings specialist” to “stock market analyst” overnight. Well done everyone.

Let’s just say that the AEW diehards win. WWE is dead by Wrestlemania.
You win. Congratulations.

Here’s the downside to all of that.

1. There are now literally hundreds if not THOUSANDS of employees who are now out of job that will be looking for work. Not only in the wrestling field, but also in management, film work, television, production, post-production and live action directing.
2. A contingent of the stars of the WWE, which some of you say are the dirt worst people on the planet, will now go to one of three places. NJPW, Impact or AEW.
They will be signed to contracts that would mirror exactly what they would be getting in WWE because that is what their star power is worth. Period.
3. Everyone else will flood the indies. All of the lower card stars will go back to where they would have been working before they got signed and they would try to get by on their name alone. Some stars would probably go to UFC or even into commentating roles to further their career. Others might look to go into other sports entirely.
But the majority of them will stay in the wrestling business. This isn’t just the people from Raw and Smackdown, but also NXT, NXT:UK and everyone at the Performance Center.
4. All of those people who flood the indies will be getting paid more than when they were just normal indy stars. When Emma was Tenille Dashwood in the indies, she would charge a modest fee for performing on the show. Then she went to WWE and became Emma. After she was released, her name and her brand allowed her to charge $2,500 per appearance with any promotion that wanted to work with her.
Now imagine 300 people doing the same thing… at the same time.
5. The majority of fans want Sasha Banks and The Revival to go to AEW because they will have the freedom and have a more thriving career in the “better company”. If WWE closes down, AEW will target the top stars first. Roman Reigns, Brock Lesnar, Daniel Bryan, Seth Rollins, Becky Lynch, Charlotte, Adam Cole. Everyone else will come second meaning that your favourite might have to go overseas, ROH or even to impact to continue showcasing their brand.
6. AEW prides itself on being the “alternative” to WWE. If WWE closes down then it isn’t the alternative anymore. It is the only. It has to compete with every other promotion that has a TV deal out there right now, including ROH, MLW and Impact.
Let me be clear here. RAW gets the hourly American demo ratings in the places of no. 1, no. 2 and no. 3 when American Football isn’t on. Not everyone who watches WWE on Monday and Friday’s will watch AEW on Wednesdays if WWE isn’t there anymore. There’s a minimum of 1/4 of all people who watch Monday Night Raw that don’t watch a wrestling show on Wednesday night.
7. If WWE ceases to exist, the landscape not only changes, but it would also mean a huge downturn in overall business. The stadiums that would have the revenue from having WWE at that town every week/month lose that income. Motels and accommodation would see a huge drop in income from fans and wrestlers alike. This sub would actually lose business because there is nothing left to truly hate. All of the “gently caress WWE”, “Vince is a terrible promoter”, “HHH can’t do main roster” narratives would cease to exist.
On top of all this, all of the promotions who piggyback off of WWE would lose their big “Wrestlemania weekend” bonuses from where all of the wrestling is in that area for the weekend. You could still do it over that weekend, but without the mega hype train of the WWE, all those shows would see a drastic reduction in numbers in the years following WWE’s demise.
8. Vince McMahon still has the XFL and he still has his millions and millions of dollars. You honestly think that Vince would close down the WWE (which makes an annual profit of $50+ million a year) rather than sell it? He would be set to make 3-5 BILLION DOLLARS if Vince sold the WWE to someone else. Vince still has hundreds of millions of dollars in WWE stock. He is not going to let his company die.

WWE won’t be closing down. They won’t be dying anytime soon. People are still buying tickets to their shows, merchandise is still being made and sold and wrestlers are still getting paid.
Their stock price fell 20%. That’s what happens when upper management people leave the company. It’s what happens with every single publicly traded company. A simple google search confirms this.

But, here is the genuinely honest take.
You don’t go to WWE because you want to wrestle. You go to WWE to make money from your wrestling, from your name and from your brand. That is why you go to the largest company in the world.
You don’t get into athletics to try and win the county fair. You get into it to win a gold medal in the Olympics and/or become the fastest person earth.

You can all call me a WWE shill if you want, but I’m providing the facts for you. WCW closed down and the wrestling business still continued because there was a major promotion still on the landscape. Impact could die tomorrow and no one would care. ROH might not last until the end of the year and if it dies, no one would bat an eyelid.

WWE losing means the entire wrestling world loses.
If you want to say that WWE dying would give you the win. Then awesome.

It means you’re the most stupid “smark” that has ever graced this sub.

Edit: Thank you everyone for the awards. You're all too kind <3 I hope to repay the favour one day <3

Edit 2: The block function is my favourite thing. To those people who decided to comment that I am on SCJerk and not even bother to comment anything constructive, I'll say this to you.
You didn't read the post. This was a hypothetical situation if WWE actually dies. There are people on this sub (a very fair few of them) that want AEW to kill WWE. There are also people on this sub that want WWE to absorb AEW. I'm saying that neither side will die as long as there is a bank roll on offer and an opportunity to showcase the talent whether its on a TV show or PPV, wrestling companies will always exist as long as there is a platform to perform on.

At no point in this post do I say that anyone on SC believes that WWE will die. I have seen many comments that say this exact thing and they get downvoted for it. Which they should. But... they certainly say it on twitter, facebook and instagram, even if it is just them screaming into the void.
It doesn't have to be an upvoted comment to still be an opinion that someone genuinely believes or wants to happen.

You just had to say "No one says FED = DED LUL" just meant that you didn't care about the post in general, you just wanted to insult me. In the end, I don't have to talk back to you. This is my zero gently caress opinion backed up with facts. If you don't like it, I don't give a poo poo.

The fact that i've actually had to clarify this is just the most insulting most of all. Because I comment on SCJerk and make fun of the people who get the most downvoted comments is apparently 100% proof that I have no idea what i'm talking about even though this was just a hypothetical post.

I see so many people say it's "cringey" or "pathetic" to see people out in wrestling shirts in public... I do it with pride and you know why? because the general public don't care... as long as it's not some dorky shirt like "We Are The Elite" or "gently caress Mike Mizanin" then to 99.9% of the public, they just see it as "a shirt".

I own over 300 different shirts because I'm a collector and love the different designs, some of my favourite shirts are Hot Pink Dolph Ziggler shirts, Sheamus shirts or The Shield shirts because I just like the look of them. The only time I've ever had someone ask me about my shirt or be happy with seeing a wrestling shirt has been one time in 2014 at a gas station with some random dude wearing a Daniel Bryan 'YES Movement' shirt, some Paintball Kiosk employee when I had a Finn Balor 'Demon Paint' shirt in 2017 and an EB Games (GameStop) employee talking about wrestling because I had a Brock Lesnar 'Suplex City' shirt in 2018.

They're just... shirts... with logos... no one cares if you wear them... just be a normal human being.

None of my 300 wrestling shirts are lame Elite shirts for virgins.

I’ve only got the cool ones like the pink Dolph Ziggler shirt and some Shield shirts that are for cool guys.
