The story picks up a bit as it goes along but yeah, it can be kind of a slog. Though to make things easier I will say that you only really have to do the missions with a little yellow film reel next to them, everything else is optional.

You’re telling me not to utterly decimate everything in my path with the broken KH3 Kairi medel?

They do eventually actually complete Agrabah by doing the actual story from the movie and stop doing so much god drat filler in general, but there’s just a lot of it in the middle and between the interesting bits. I mean, we finished Snow White’s movie plot and we still went back to that world to hunt loving bee heartless

It has moments but not worth the price unless you're into the super hard data fights, and maybe not then.

The post game story stuff is stupid and just "sora time traveled a lot to help sora. There's no plot holes because Sora."

You're actually just paying for 14 super bosses with some of if not the best combat in the series. If you like boss rushes it is 100% worth it, but if you want meaningful story developments uh... just look up the 20 minutes of cutscene.

Yeah, I was more looking for something to actually use a level 99 Sora with Ultima on so that sounds pretty cool. I haven't got around to doing the data org on my KH2 file yet, but maybe that'd scratch the same itch.

They currently have three more updates scheduled for this year, at the very least. I think they've said April, June, and August?

Considering they’ve got a new mobile game on the way I wouldn’t be surprised if UX gradually starts winding down in the near future.

I did finally beat the secret boss last night. Great stuff!

If you’re looking for difficult postgame content, the dlc provides it in spades. Hell, before actually starting the boss fights, I built the Ultima Weapon and got to level 99. Dark Inferno was a pushover. The DLC superbosses are extremely not. If you’ve already conquered the main game, then the DLC will extremely provide a worthy challenge.

The model viewer/camera mode alone is worth the ticket, the ez/pro codes mostly suck but there's some fun ones in there (EZ has the 'Everything does x3 damage' one and Pro has 'You can only have a max of 30 abilities equipped at a time' code). the new story content is good, playing as the other goobers is good, the new boss fights are the best in the franchise and the secret boss in Lingering Will 2, One Who Fights Further.

DLC is good.

Was mostly a joke, but legitimately the extra stats/form of the Ultima and stats from being Level 99 will not stop a boss from killing you in about 3 seconds on critical in the Data fights. To be clear these aren't bullshit fights of "Better abuse invulnerability to weather these attacks and spam Balloon for 2 hours." But it's definitely something where the keyblade and stats make a minimal amount of difference.

Yeah, basically when the fight starts you're given a choice between Sora and one of a handful of other characters depending on the fight. The other characters have defined equipment/skills/etc but tend to be pretty powerful on their own merits.

Honestly the closest that there is to cheese in the superbosses is that you can use a Link to survive DM's but even that comes at the cost of basically getting hit by Sephiroth's Heartless Angel.

I only found Kairi's and Roxas' segments to be entertaining, Aqua's and Riku's don't really bring any new stuff to the table (besides Aqua and Ventus getting that sweet team attack).

Yeah Riku is just okay I guess, not really fleshed out or that interesting and Aqua sucks (She's really really slow) but Kairi is pretty snappy and Roxas Does Not Stop Moving Ever.

Have you ever played Super Smash Bros Brawl?

You know in subspace when you reach the end of a cutscene and it freeze frames on your crew and asks who you want to pick for the next segment? It's literally that.

Like... IN THE REALM OF DREAM poo poo THAT'LL NEVER HAPPEN BECAUSE DISNEY. Having an Arena/Colosseum/Ancient Cave kinda setup where you could say... I dunno, Pick Sora, Ventus And gently caress it, Sully. And you can take your team of 3, into these battles and just... have any combination of Party members, and play as any of the playable ones. My friend finished Remind and he's pretty convinced that all future KH games will be mobile games or KHUX as '3 and remind is just a giant advertisement for the mobile games, and they just announced a new one too'

His reasoning being that the actual story is being handled over in the mobile game and every single hook in the end game of 3 is 'hey go check out the mobile game. Wanna know whats up with Ven? Mobile game. Wanna know who Luxu or the masters are? Mobile game. Xehanorts speech with weird robed guy? Mobile game. Next game announced? Mobile game.'

Your friend is being defeatist and also, ridiculous. As he's using mobile games, things explicitly set in the past, claiming they are the future story of the series. Xehanort's game has nothing to do with following on Sora's adventures, and the Kingdom Hearts series is Sora's series.

Finally, this is no more "Oh no it's all becoming Mobile!" Than it was "All becoming Handhelds" during a period of Re:Coded, Days, BBS and DDD.

Want to know why they're doing a lot of mobile games? Beyond them being great at making money? Because Nomura is busy. He's now managing two Triple A game franchises, both of whom's releases are expected to hit at roughly the same time because people aren't reasonable human beings at Square.

So, Between making VII, then making VII's sequel, he's going to make KH4. Well, that isn't happening when he's also developing FFVIIRE-2, and almost certainly not happening with whatever other games he's a producer/executive on (Of which there are likely a lot, he's super busy)

The fact that Kingdom Hearts: Dark Path, is NOT being developed by Nomura, and is being developed by a new team, is shocking, as Nomura is almost always the lead director on KH and overseeing every aspect.

I will point out, also, that some of the games teased in ReMind would work just fine as a smaller scale affair on the Switch.

Including one not anyone else is talking about but the one that made me the most excited- but first the more minor ones

We have the BBS Trio in Darkness Lands as one possible spin off game, which lends itself to a full game and not a mobile affair. We have the Disney Trio off revisiting old Disney worlds. We have the Sea Salt quad off in the digital world. They even did tease Xehanort going on a disney tour, with Young Xehanort talking to MoM

But the biggest thing they dropped, that would not work as a mobile but would be PERFECT as a switch spin off?

Dream Drop Distance 2.0, The Kairi Riku adventure. The secret ending portion with Riku was revealed to be him dreaming, and Kairi is already dreaming while searching her heart.

And tell me that Kairi doesn't make sense as a Pokemon master.

If ANY of these get a full game made, and we're due for a Nintendo release, it's that one. They clearly still like the Dream Eater concept, and I'm sure they can improve on it from what it was in the past.

And the Switch is a good enough system that they don't have to jump through hoops to make games on it
that can upscale well like the 3DS

Fear not the mobile future you can see

Believe in Kairi becoming a Pokemon master that is in your heart
